Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Barhoma.
Matthew, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a California appeals and litigation attorney. I run a renowned and growing law firm in Barhoma Law, P.C., a post-conviction and business litigation defense law firm. We have had a great track record for success and we are eager for the successes to come! I also co-founded a tech company in the legal space called Esquire’d. While in law school, I never considered appellate work. Once I graduated, I worked as a corporate litigator. I even joined the ranks of NBC-Universal as a dealmaker for the stage and backlot operations. But over time, I returned to Barhoma Law and found my core product–post-conviction appeals and appellate law. Once I returned to Barhoma Law, P.C., we experienced great success, gaining multiple key rulings in favor of our clients. From there, the team started to grow and we were hungry for more success for our clients. As our team grows, we are expanding into multiple states, bringing the liberty of what we do to future prospective clients across many different states.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It was not always a smooth road. It’s easy to look at what Barhoma Law, P.C. has built today and consider us lucky. But it took a ton of work to get here. More than I would like to remember! But it is very high satisfaction. Some of the struggles include figure out how to build a law firm from the ground up, how to get key staff members and attract other notable attorneys to join our efforts. Once we were organized in that effort, the successes started to roll in. More, COVID has not made this an easy process. But we are resilient like that. And we are now at a point where most notable courts recognize our practice, our name and approach our cases with seriousness and diligence, which is a big ask given the state of the 2020 pandemic.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Barhoma Law, P.C.?
We are renowned post-conviction appellate and litigation attorneys. I would argue no other firm in the country can reasonably compete. We have advanced the access to justice by helping wrongfully convicted defendants navigate the heavy current of the post-conviction process. What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned along the way is that if you remain true to your strengths, your brand will naturally grow. Focus on the practice, focus on being client-centric, and your law firm will be a natural success. As an attorney, I often get many other lawyers who attack our cases or our practice. And I constantly preach to our team to remain client-centric and advance access to justice. Frivolously fighting lawyers today does nothing if it does not advance your theory of your case forward. Rather, remaining true to being client-centric and advancing access to justice is the only means to an end in our journey.
