Community Highlights: Meet Marcella Carroll of Klean Aesthetic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcella Carroll

Hi Marcella, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2013, I was working in the financial industry at a bank, feeling unfulfilled and stuck. My creative passion for makeup was my true calling, which I pursued by freelancing on the side, doing makeup for weddings, quinces, and even for my co-workers during breaks. Despite knowing I wanted to go to school to get my esthetician license, I kept putting it off, feeling too comfortable in my current job.

Everything changed in 2018. One day, as I sat at my desk, I felt like a robot, going through the motions without any real joy. I realized I needed to make a change. With the support of my parents and the encouragement of my of friends I felt strong. My friend Lexi, who helped me get a job at Sephora got me on track, I finally took the leap. I juggled working early mornings at Sephora, attending esthetician school in the evenings, and my lending job until they found a replacement. which was a 9-5 on in its self.

By 2019, I graduated and started my journey in the beauty industry, Then COVID-19 hit, which was a tough blow, but I kept pushing forward. In 2022, I started taking clients again from my parents’ house while working full-time, and later, a friend referred me to a position at HydraFacial. Despite the struggles, I remained determined.

In 2023, I moved myself and my business out of my parents’ house, into my own home. I was so invested in my calling that this year 2024 I looked for a location, my first location was in Carson at Curves by Bae by Ari and locked in my stay and now officially became a business owner of Klean Aesthetic. Next stop Lomita with a soon to be released location coming OCT 2024.

My journey has been challenging, but every step has been worth it. Today, I’m proud to say that I’m living my dream, and it’s just the beginning.

Message: Don’t settle for a life that doesn’t fulfill you. Pursue your passion with all your heart, even when the path is tough. The journey will shape you, and in the end, it will be worth every challenge.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every road has its challenges, whether it’s obstacles, weather, or your own motivation. The struggles are always hard to face but ultimately worth it. I’ve dealt with countless challenges, from financial difficulties to wondering how I could make things work or improve. Even the availability for my clients

The hardest struggle was losing my mother while I was still in school. Trying to stay focused when a huge part of my life was gone was incredibly difficult. But I had to push through and finish, even when it felt impossible. Now, I’m facing another challenge: caring for my father, who isn’t in the best health, while managing my work and business. It’s mentally exhausting to feel like you’re trying to be three people in one body.

But through all of this, I’ve learned that perseverance is everything. The road may be tough, but it’s the strength to keep moving forward that truly makes the journey worthwhile.

I offer a wide range of treatments, including facials, threading, brow lamination with tint, and lash lifting with tint. What truly sets Klean Aesthetic apart is my ability to connect with my clients. I’ve created a space that is open and welcoming to both men and women, challenging the idea that self-care is just for women. It’s important to me that everyone feels they belong here.

The most common request I get in my practice is for extractions during treatments. I often receive compliments on my hands, with clients saying they feel like magic. I love hearing that because I know genuine feedback like this stays with them and encourages them to share their experiences with friends and family.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is when you set an intention or goal to inspire within yourself, and you achieve it. It’s about turning your aspirations into reality, reaching the milestones you set, and feeling fulfilled by the journey and the outcome.
