Community Highlights: Meet Luna LaBelle of Cousins Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luna LaBelle.

Hi Luna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2019, after a year of working retail, I moved back home to LA with my parents where my mom, Maria, and I started Cousins Co. together. As a wardrobe stylist, my mom’s creativity and knack for fashion has always inspired me. Having spent my whole life standing in the middle of her closet, going through her jewelry and watching her piece together outfits that come together looking like art, we both felt it was time to put our minds together. We started Cousins Co. to bring our mutual appreciation for fashion to life with an individually curated vintage shop and personal styling service. As a mother/daughter duo, it’s our goal to bring more color into people’s lives and to both embody and highlight the far reaching importance of fashion.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a business is certainly not a smooth road. We’ve hit many roadblocks along the way and continue to on a daily basis! However, whether these roadblocks be small or large they are always learning moments. We’ve struggled the most with learning how to use and operate our e-commerce platform. As a Communication Studies & Philosophy Major in college, it was never my plan to manage a website! With that said, we learn something new everyday so although it may be a struggle- the struggle pushes us to do better!

We’ve been impressed with Cousins Co., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Cousins Co. is a curated fashion brand and personal styling service. Our items are vintage, thrifted, new and all individually sourced by my mom and I. Parcel Post, the name of our styling service is a quick and easy way to find unique pieces if you’re not a shopper! All we ask our clients to do is fill out our style profile & wait for a parcel of clothes to end up on their doorstep. You’re then free to try on the items and send back whatever didn’t work for you. Each parcel is pieced together by hand and thoughtfully crafted for the specific client we are sending it to. In addition to our styling service, individual vintage and new pieces are found on our website www.cousinscompany.com! Whenever people ask me what sets us apart from other brands, I always say ‘my mom’. If you’ve ever met a creative who just seems to be made for what they’re doing, then you know what I’m talking about. Her gift for seeing color and potential in what others may see as ‘too much’ is remarkable. Over the past year and a half, we have been able to create lasting relationships with local business owners and evolve our brand into a fashion hub for those looking to find their next treasures!

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We are always looking to collaborate with other creatives! We are frequently looking for local photographers, visionaries and models to help with our curated collections and social media. We are on IG, Twitter and TikTok! Support of any facet is always appreciated; we host giveaways and often share discount codes for our site so be sure to follow us!
