Community Highlights: Meet Lisa Treen of Mind Body Connection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Treen.

Hi Lisa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Hollywood, California and raised in Northridge within a vibrant blended family. I
grew up surrounded by strong, independent women — my mother, my sisters, and countless
girlfriends — and their presence shaped who I became. They were my first great teachers, and
over time, I found that I was continually drawn to the energy of empowered women. They were
a mirror, a source of wisdom, and an integral part of my journey.

From a young age, I sensed things others didn’t. Subtle energies, unspoken emotions, the quiet
calls of the body — these signals always spoke to me. At 23, while working full-time as a
manicurist, I noticed that my work went beyond just nails. Through touch, I could feel what
people were carrying emotionally. I learned to be spiritually present in a way that made others
feel truly seen and heard.

People came for the calm and the connection, not just the service. That simple act of holding a
hand awakened my understanding of the mind-body connection. It became clear that I was
meant to do more, to hold space for deeper healing.

So, I followed my intuition. I began studying various healing modalities, each one connecting
more dots for me, and guiding me toward the work I do today. I eventually started my own
practice with a clear purpose: to help people reconnect with themselves — physically,
emotionally, and energetically — grounded in the same presence I discovered in those early
days.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Balancing a growing family and career while trying to build something of my own was no small
feat while working full time and raising three children.

My mother-in-law saw something in me. She believed in what I was trying to create and gave
me the gift of support. Because of her, I found time for night classes and training. Those long
days and late nights were tough, but they were also filled with love and purpose. I wasn’t alone
— my village showed up for me at every turn.

Another challenge was learning to trust the intangible. I had to believe that what I felt, heard,
and saw wasn’t imagination. My education at the Upledger Institute in Craniosacral Therapy
helped me validate those experiences. Every training helped me understand more deeply that
what I sensed in the body was real, and meaningful.

We’ve been impressed with Mind Body Connection, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A client once told me about a small space available for rent at their therapy office in Calabasas.
Nestled in a serene courtyard with a giant, ancient oak tree at its center, the moment I stepped
onto the property, I felt the energy, a quiet knowing that this was where the next chapter
would begin.

Thanks to the generosity of those friends, I was able to create my own sanctuary there. That
was 24 years ago. Ever since, it’s been a place of peace and transformation, a sacred space I
share with every soul who walks through the door.

What I do is difficult to define in just words, because it lives in the realm of energy and soul. As
a mindbody therapist, I work in layers — physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual — like
peeling back the layers of an onion.

Our bodies have two minds: the conscious mind, and the soul’s mind. The soul always knows
the truth, but that truth is often buried beneath ego and experience. Through energy work, I
listen to the body and guide people back to themselves.

I can read and feel energy, in the body and the auric field. Emotions, trauma, grief, fear —
they all leave impressions in our tissues and energetic space. I work as a conduit and a
translator for what the body is ready to release or heal. My clients are active participants in
their own transformation. Together, we surrender to the process.

I often describe myself as an alchemist, helping people transmute stuck energy into clarity,
old beliefs into liberation. This work constantly amazes me, because the body and soul always
know what they need, if we’re willing to listen.
