Today we’d like to introduce you to Kira West.
Hi Kira, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story is not unlike most. I started with big dreams and have worked really hard over the past decade to figure out how I can get there. I’ve had my share of challenges, pivots and full stop moments but so grateful for all of them as they’ve made me resilient. I’m a Brooklyn Born lover of the world, always ready to embrace a new experience. My approach to wellness is all about filling up my cup so that I can make an impact. I created ByKwest an online wellness destination on the web as well as on social media. I’m the founder of MadeByKwest, an impact-driven jewelry company creating timeless pieces inspired by the world. We have so many exciting launches to come to keep an eye on the website! In the midst of the Black Lives Matter movement of 2020, I co-founded ACTIV-ISM, an anti-racism wellness program with Taylor Rae Almonte. Being an athlete is so much more than running marathons and competing in races. An athlete continues to show up and push themselves reaching new heights while overcoming countless challenges along the way. For me, my running journey has shown me just how much I’m capable of not just at the end of that race but in life. I’m passionate about running as a vehicle for change, not only am I runner but also a Certified Distance Running Coach!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, I honestly don’t think anyone ever has one in life. I’ve struggled with how I bring my full authentic self into my businesses and continue to grow while striving for balance. I’ve faced so many challenges when it comes to growing both my product-based business and my online platforms but I’ve learned to ask for help. I can vividly remember the night before my website launch, calling my brother for coding help to get the website right. Lean on the people that offer to help because you’ll need it.
