Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Rosado.
Hi Kimberly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started as a makeup artist in 2015, working retail and freelance. I eventually went into working at a studio that created prosthetics for movies! As much as I loved that, I knew deep down I couldn’t work under someone forever. I went back to school to get my license in esthetics, and it was love at first sight! I knew I was able to do something on my own. So, I did. With a dollar to my name and no side money support, I slowly bought the supplies I needed to be able to make a home studio at my parents’ home. The support I had from my parents and my clients I something I could never take for granted. A year after being home based and servicing in lashes, brows & skin, I was finally able to afford and transition into a studio in Downey. My little home away from home! I feel very fortunate to be able to say that only 1 year into that Downey studio, I was able to lease a space and build my very own salon. The ultimate dream. I had visions for this salon to be the ultimate 1 stop shop. Having professional artists that service in all thing’s beauty. But I had no idea what I was in for. I knew it was going to be hard; I didn’t know HOW hard. The first year of opening was insane to say the least. But I would do it all again to be where we are now. While finally having the place up and running, I realized, Haus of Divinity was also the ultimate networking paradise for our beauty creators! There is a luxury working alongside multiple artists and that is, sharing clients! It is a very fulfilling experience to be able to watch artist grow their confidence & clientele working alongside each other under the roof I have created. Today, we are still up and running, continuing to grow and prosper! I have a lot of things in store for Haus of Divinity. The sky is the limit <3
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There is definitely a learning curve while working for yourself. It’s been a pretty smooth road until I opened the shop. I can confidently say, opening the salon was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. The first 8 months were a nightmare, but that’s a whole story for another time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Haus of Divinity?
I am the owner of Haus of Divinity. Our salon is a unique collective of talented artists who do lashes, nails, brows, sugar wax, facials, makeup & hairstyling in uptown Whittier. I myself specialize in brows, sugar wax & lash lifts! Aside from running the salon & servicing, I also am an educator in all 3. I teach other artists how to execute and add these services to their menus.
What sets me aside from others is my tenacity and my mindset. I am tiny but mighty 💪 I’m very fortunate to have an amazing support system to help keep me going. Each play a vital role! My father keeps me grounded; he taught me mind over matter. My mother keeps me tenacious; she taught me to keep fighting. My boyfriend keeps me motivated; he taught me it was possible when I didn’t believe in myself. I like to say they gave me the perfect amount of smarts & crazy hehe. I couldn’t have done it without them.
I am most proud of our growth.
How do you define success?
I’m a simple woman. Success to me is to be happy. To get and give love. To overcome obstacle and learn from the hard lesson’s life teaches us.
