Community Highlights: Meet Kim Le of BangBang Fusion | Little Big Fridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Le.

Hi Kim, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Kim Le. Formerly, Kim Huynh. But life is too short to be called a name you never liked. Agree? I’ll start you at the most recent pivotal point where I started as a Marketing Director in 2019 living my best life. Boom. The pandemic hit and soon enough, I was let go from that job I have worked so long to achieve. It doesn’t matter because that’s history now. In times of uncertainty, one thing for certain is that we all can control our ambitions, shift directions and do something new. And that’s what I’m here to share with you today, a little bit of light despite of what’s going on in the world.

A small part of my story: In 2020, Little Big Fridge (LBF) was born. LBF is a community fridge project that uses its resources to provide food for those in need for the community by the community. Even though I was helping others and creating something that gave me joy, I wanted more and soon after, signed on to open a restaurant called, Bang Bang Fusion, serving Asian fusion bowls and favorite classic bites.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I can’t say it’s been a smooth road but honestly, what roads are? I would say the type of challenges I face are more mental. When you’ve tried things again and again, you ask yourself, what will it take until I give up? These roads led me to learning what persistence means and how rewarding they can be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
First, thank you for providing a space for me to share my new ventures. I’m excited to announce that I will be opening a restaurant called, Bang Bang Fusion serving classic and fusion Asian bowls along with complimenting favorites such as potstickers and bao buns. Our focus will and always be our flavor. I want to be able to take you back to Vietnam and other parts of Asia I have visited when you eat my food. I want you to taste the beautifully curated balance of acidity, sweet, spicy, salty, and tangy goodness Asian food offers. Here’s a twist – the restaurant will only service pick-up and delivery/take-out. This business model provides a space for our team to take this time to continue developing high-performance speed for our customers while keeping integrity of full-flavor dishes delivered right to your door.

A passion project that has started right before my decision to move forward with the restaurant is a community fridge concept in Denver, CO called, Little Big Fridge. I’m the founder of Little Big Fridge (LBF), a project that is volunteer ran turned into a Sack Lunch program providing 1600+ lunches per month to those in need. We partner with local restaurants and bakeries to provide a solution to food waste. Recently, LBF opened a new program at a new location called, “Fill-A-Fridge” where volunteers generously sponsor to fill the fridge on any given day on our calendar to a building occupied by tenants who were previously homeless and elderly.

When the restaurant is more established, I hope to create another program utilizing our kitchen space into a soup kitchen providing meals to any families who need a hot meal. At this point, I will then consider myself the luckiest person doing what I love most, while serving my incredible community in Denver something to eat and something to cry and laugh about together.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Some are born with a God-given talent. If that is the case, then I believe the most important characteristic to my success and craft has been persistence and dedication. It is my instrument that I practice and rehearse every day. It challenges me and brings me to unknown levels of success I would otherwise not have without.

Thank you.
