Hi Kelly, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Let’s Party Los Angeles started about two years ago in my home as a family and friends balloon service. It was mid-pandemic that I found myself bored and twiddling my thumbs to create something. I saw a few luxury balloon installations and I thought, I can create something like that! So I did some research on what supplies were needed and the method professionals use to install. At the time it was an expensive hobby with no company logo. I practiced at home, offered free garlands to friends and family, I studied my craft and became obsessed! One year in, my skills improved, and everyone that saw my work would light up in the face and be in awe of what I created. My best friends and family encouraged me to turn my hobby into a business. I of course was too self-conscious and feared my art being sold to the public and criticized. I took time to think about why I started making balloon garlands and If I could make it profitable. It is such a special moment when a client walks into their baby shower, birthday, or congratulatory event and they gasp in excitement and happiness. I feel fulfilled and grateful. So I thought let’s take this to the next level, make it profitable yet affordable to our clients. I then asked, “What should be my business name?” And that’s how Let’s Party Los Angeles started! Two years later we service Los Angeles, Orange County, The Valley, and the Inland Empire. We are a team of three. A lot of love, sweat, and determination goes into our garlands and it’s all worth it!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Buildings Let’s Party Los Angeles has not been a smooth road. Of course with starting any business, there are hurdles. Early on I had a funding issues. I was burning through my personal pockets to just self-teach and learn how to create. Then we hit walls with social media and advertising. As a small business, we don’t have the capital to consistently hire a creative director, photographer, social media manager, etc. So myself and my team I have had to wear many hats and It’s time-consuming. We live in such a media forward-facing time that we want to compete with bigger balloon businesses. Marketing and social media is a beast on their own and It’s hard to get your name out there when you don’t have the promotional funds.
