Today we’d like to introduce you to Kara Marotta.
Hi Kara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a Southern California native, I was born and raised in Thousand Oaks, a suburban community on the outskirts of Los Angeles. From living in Marina Del Rey, attending college downtown and now owning my own home in Inglewood, I can truly say I love this city.
As a young adult, I never thought I would be able to afford to buy my own home in Los Angeles. It always felt like a dream that was out of reach. But as I started to learn more about the real estate industry, I realized that buying a home was more attainable than I had ever thought. It was a huge accomplishment that my husband and I solely bought our first home at just 28 years old. That’s when I decided to become a real estate agent and help others achieve their dream of homeownership.
By helping people navigate the home-buying process, I am able to give back and help others achieve something that I once thought was impossible. It’s an incredibly rewarding feeling to see the excitement and joy on my client’s faces when they find the perfect home.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Real estate wasn’t my first career, I taught Pilates in Pacific Palisades for 12 years before I made the leap. There are a lot of correlations between the two careers. For instance, you have to be great at maintaining relationships, listening, guiding and patience. With that said, learning the backend of real estate was challenging in the beginning. There is a lot of paperwork that goes into this job. You have to meticulous when it comes to contracts – for your own sake and for the sake of your client.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
It’s hard to pick one! My best memories come from the freedom I had as a child to roam and explore. My brothers and I would go to this creek behind our house and fish for crawdads with bologna lunch meat. We would be outside running the streets till the sun came down. There’s no way in hell I’d let my son have as much freedom as I did – it was a different time.
