Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Magallanez.
Hi Justin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In a nutshell, Creatin’ Monsters was born through the eyes of my five years old son Damien one evening in the gym. Damien saw me train some athletes & Damien said, “Wow, your creating monsters Pops.” From a child’s standpoint, they did look like monsters. They were strong, moved fast and we were turning green as the Hulk. After working for several corporate gyms, the garage was born Through faith, love and overall taking a “chance” I was working with all levels of athletes day and night. Through an investment of $400 to purchase as much equipment I could, I started to train athletes. 15 years later, I’m still here and growing and still hungry to be the best at my craft.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For 15 years there has been numerous ups and downs but I personally believe that all the great businesses have their struggles. Especially the training business is growing and that everywhere you turn, there’s a gym/trainer. But throughout the whole process, it’s all about and learning and growing.
We’ve been impressed with Creatin’ Monsters, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My son inspired me to create and my call Creatin’ Monsters who is also the owner as well and is now 20 years old. I’ve been a trainer for 20 years now and running my business since 2008 to where we have our official building based out in Walnut California. Currently, I’m a biomechanics professor and head women’s strength coordinator at junior college including a physiotherapist for the NFL and Jordan Brand to where I work on specific NFL players and teams upon request and specific Jordan sponsor athletes. I’ve been a strength coach for 3 NFL teams, 1 NCAA DIV 1 school, 2 MLB organizations, 3 Junior College programs, 1 AFL organization, and a few top-ranked High School programs.
My brand is represented and still runs through the eyes of both my son and drives me to be the best at my craft. Money comes and goes but Family is what that keep my mission statement is based of. Keeping things “Simple, Easy, and Effective.”
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a very active person growing up. Always outside. Never came in until the lights came on. All through my school years, I played sports. Baseball, Football, Basketball. Then in high school, my love for football grew and my passion for fitness became my passion. After high school, I was blessed to continue my education and playing career in college to where I was very blessed to work out with a couple of Professional Football teams.
I love cooking which has been my passion and more importantly, just being a full-time dad.
