Community Highlights: Meet Jordyn Weekly of Dont Eat The Homies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordyn Weekly.

Hi Jordyn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started this brand in 2018 and made about ten hoodies with the original logo on a random print to order website. I really had no intention of starting a clothing brand in the beginning, I just wanted to make the hoodies for myself and my friends with a message I am so passionate about spreading. A friend of mine took a few photos of me wearing it and I started posting on Instagram. I got a lot of positive feedback and people wanted to buy hoodies from me. Gradually, I’ve expanded to where we are now and now have a small team working hard everyday to make this the largest vegan streetwear brand out there.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’re always facing new challenges in the business and finding solutions as we go. There are so many moving parts in this business from production and marketing to warehousing and logistics. For example, Covid-19 made production very difficult for many reasons, and changes in how Facebook and Instagram ads are delivered was one of the hardest challenges, but we always find a way around them and are constantly learning and improving.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Dont Eat The Homies?
Dont Eat The Homies is a vegan streetwear brand on a mission to inspire society to do better for the planet and everyone on it. We are proud of the community we’ve created and how DETH is spreading the vegan message through streetwear. Every time someone wears DETH out in public, they’re planting seeds in the minds of people who love animals but continue to eat them. We want to inspire people to question their decisions and consider the impact their decisions have on the planet and animals.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We have a lot of exciting things coming up for Dont Eat The Homies over the next year. We’re currently working on expanding the line, doing collaborations with other brands, and creating partnerships with retailers such as Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom.
