Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Molo.
Hi Jonathan , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been fascinated by magic since I was ten years old, the day I watched David Copperfield make the Statue of Liberty disappear. As a shy Filipino kid growing up, magic gave me a voice. It made people smile—especially my mom—and that feeling never left me.
Over the years, what started as a childhood hobby became a lifelong passion. I studied every move, every word, and every way to connect with people. Magic taught me confidence, storytelling, and empathy. Eventually, it took me places I could have only dreamed of: performing at the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood more than ten times, headlining stages across California, and sharing magic with everyone from Disney and Toyota to children’s hospitals and community centers.
In 2025, I became the Magic Castle Strolling Champion, which still feels surreal. But more than the trophies or big stages, my proudest moments come from making genuine connections—seeing a family laugh together, or a child’s eyes light up in wonder. That’s what keeps me going.
Today, I’m known as The Man in the Purple Suit, a title I once resisted but now fully embrace. It represents joy, confidence, and my belief that magic isn’t just about tricks—it’s about creating moments that people remember long after the show ends.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. The last 10+ years have been full of learning, building, and growing—not just as a magician, but as a person. I recently made the leap from a steady government paycheck to becoming a full-time magician, which was both exciting and terrifying.
It’s a completely new world being a business owner. Suddenly, you’re not just the performer—you’re also the marketer, accountant, creative director, and roadie. There have been plenty of challenges along the way: gigs that didn’t go as planned, ideas that failed, and moments of doubt. But I’ve learned to see those failures as lessons. Each one taught me how to refine my craft, strengthen my mindset, and appreciate the process.
At the same time, the successes—big and small—remind me why I do this. Every smile, every “how did you do that?” moment, every opportunity to connect with people through magic pushes me forward. It’s not an easy road, but it’s the most fulfilling one I’ve ever taken.
As you know, we’re big fans of Molo Magic LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I run Molo Magic LLC, a full-service entertainment company built around one simple mission: to create moments of wonder that people never forget. I specialize in interactive magic and mind reading for corporate events, private celebrations, and family audiences. Whether it’s a black-tie gala, a kids’ charity event, or a cruise ship show, my goal is always the same—to make people laugh, connect, and feel like they’re part of something magical.
I’m known as The Man in the Purple Suit, a persona that represents joy, confidence, and connection. My style blends comedy, storytelling, and audience participation in a way that feels personal and meaningful. I don’t just perform tricks—I create shared experiences that people talk about long after the event is over.
What sets me apart is my approach. I don’t just perform for people—I perform with them. Every show is built around engagement and emotion. I draw on real stories from my life, my Filipino heritage, and my journey from a shy kid to a full-time magician. It’s authentic, it’s human, and it reminds people that the real magic isn’t in the props—it’s in the people.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the impact. I’ve performed everywhere from the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood to children’s hospitals and community centers. My brand stands for professionalism, heart, and connection. I want readers to know that when they book Molo Magic, they’re not just getting a show—they’re getting an experience designed to inspire wonder and bring people closer together.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The magic industry is definitely evolving. We’re moving from the era of the classic “bunny out of a hat” and linking rings to a new generation of magicians who blend technology, storytelling, and style. Magic today isn’t just about tricks—it’s about connection, presentation, and experience.
We’re seeing performers use apps, AI, and digital effects in creative ways that make audiences question what’s possible. But at the same time, there’s a growing appreciation for authenticity. People want to feel something real. They want to laugh, be amazed, and walk away remembering how the performance made them feel.
I think the next 5–10 years will bring a beautiful balance between innovation and heart. The magicians who thrive will be the ones who embrace both—the technology that enhances the impossible and the human touch that makes it meaningful.
