Today we’d like to introduce you to Joaquin Arreola.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a 22-year-old electrician from Cudahy, born and raised in LA. I started learning the trade right after high school, working under licensed electricians and getting hands-on experience until I had the confidence and skills to go out on my own. I founded AP Power & Design to offer reliable, affordable electrical services—especially in communities like mine that often get overlooked.
In the beginning, I was hustling through word-of-mouth and local Facebook groups. Slowly, I built up my client base, started running ads, and began getting more consistent work. These days, I focus on service calls, EV charger installs, and small upgrades—growing the business step by step.
My faith has always been a foundation for me. It keeps me grounded and reminds me that the work I do is about more than just making money—it’s about serving others and giving back. My goal is to keep building a business that supports my community and creates opportunities for others coming up like I did.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting young, I had to prove myself constantly—people didn’t always take me seriously because of my age. I didn’t have a big network, and I wasn’t handed any clients or connections. I had to hustle hard through Facebook groups and word-of-mouth just to land my first few jobs.
Running everything solo—handling scheduling, giving quotes, and doing the actual work—was overwhelming at times. I made mistakes, underpriced jobs, and dealt with burnout. Slow weeks tested my patience, and learning how to balance marketing costs with consistent, reliable lead sources is still a work in progress. But through it all, I’ve kept pushing forward.
My faith has played a big role in keeping me grounded and focused. I believe God has a purpose for everything, even the setbacks. Every challenge has taught me something valuable and pushed me to grow—not just as a business owner, but as a man. I lean on that faith when things get tough, and it motivates me to keep building a business that serves others and creates real opportunities for the next generation coming up behind me
