Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Rodriguez.
Hi Jared, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jared Rodriguez and I’m a trainer, a hustler, an entrepreneur with two outdoor fitness class locations in LA, and I’m a thrill seeker.
I got started in the fitness industry at a very young age, and I did so because fitness itself began to offer me a sense of confidence, mental and physical strength, and purpose for the first time in my life. Fitness gave me something to offer others. It made me ask myself, “I did this; what else can I do?” and that perspective changed my life forever.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? Hell no. ha.
My biggest challenge was my mindset.
Although my parents were incredibly loving in raising me, I have countless memories where decisions were made in fear and from a place of scarcity. I remember hating how limiting that felt because I often felt it was possible.
I don’t blame my folks because raising kids is hard. More importantly, they had both been through a lot of abuse as children and they raised me far better than they were raised by their parents. I am empathetic to their process. But still, I was unconsciously being raised to move through life in fear and scarcity.
I knew that wasn’t right for me.
My mindset began to change when I read the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and I learned that risk is good. Even better? The idea of taking intelligent risk. As soon as I learned about intelligent risk – I immediately begin taking them with my work, my health, my finances, in finding a life partner, and with my ability to put myself out there, risking rejection and pain. Many tough days were ahead of me, and at the exact same time – My life quickly started getting better because I began attacking my goals and dreams.
Knowing it might not happen is scary. But what if it DOES HAPPEN?
I chose to start taking chances because with no risk, there’s no reward. Oh yea, it also requires lots and lots of hard work.
As you know, we’re big fans of Inspired Method, Inc. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am the founder and master coach of Inspired Method Fitness.
IMF is an outdoor, group training experience which uses a 4-pillar training system of Mobility, Strength, Cardio, and Lifestyle in each of its classes.
Let me repeat: We’re an outdoors fitness community where it’s all about getting outside!
Whether internally as a team, with our workout programming, or our branding – Our attention to detail sets us apart from others.
I’m proud that my 5 years as owner of Inspired Method has stood the test of time, growing during COVID, creating a community where people can make friends and grow, and that the brand truly improves and can save lives.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
With a “sit down and desk-achieve” society, I see the fitness industry needing more mobility and strength training than ever. More and more people (including myself) sit for work, and that compounds week after month after year.
Both now and in our distant future – If we want to have something to offer ourselves, our life partner, our children, family, etc. – we’re going to need to prioritize, practice, have some freakin fun with, and master mobility training and strength training!
