Today we’d like to introduce you to Jan Head.
Hi jan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I first got my post graduate degree in clinical nutrition and with this knowledge I understood supplements. I learnt reflexology 40 years ago and I began to practice and teach for the international institute of reflexology. I connected with a chiropractic office over 30 years ago where I studied various Applied kinesology techniques,
I received a fellowship from the british institute of homeopathy in the 90s so now I combine all of these modalites. Some people come to me for reflexology, some come for nutrition or homeopathy.
I have a little boutique practice with a chiropractor now. recently moved from pico robertson area to hancock park
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No it has not really been smooth. I came to california in 87 believing that it was very alternative and “organic”. I was wrong I realised that most people were not into complementary medicine as much as I was lead to believe.
Obviously in the last 38 years things have changed. My husband always said I was ahead of the curve and people did not know what organic foods were.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I offer 3 modalities. clinical nutrition, homeopathy and reflexology.
I have been in practice for over 40 years. I am very proud of all of my skills, however I have made them my own.
I have taught reflexology over the years but do not do this anymore.
I believe I am unique since most reflexologists do not have other modalities to combine.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
decide if you want to start doing house calls. 40 years ago that is how I started before I met Dr Gormly and moved into the Los angeles center for healing offices
