Today we’d like to introduce you to Iman Johnson.
Hi Iman, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Well, I am a Columbus Ohio Native and one day in my life I just felt that my talents would be best served owning my own business, So I enrolled in Cosmetology School and from Day one I looked at being a cosmetologist as a business. Through my career, I have had many challenges and times when I wanted to give up but I kept pushing forward and from working in two salons, I went on to open my own salon and I’m excited to say that July 1st, 2023 I will celebrate 10years of being Velvet Rope Salon Studio and I am very excited and proud of myself.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all most of my challenges have been from my lack of self-confidence in the beginning of my journey and Listening to other people’s opinions of my work and I had to realize that everything isn’t personal and some. People’s “opinions” or “criticism” comes from a place of negativity and not from a place of actual help or encouragement.

Velvet Rope Salon Studio is a salon with class appeal, when you’re a client of Velvet Rope Salon you are VIP, our mission is to service our clients with the upmost quality work while using the most quality products.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My family first, they have been my rock through my journey and I wouldn’t have it any other way, My Daughter because of her I constantly push myself to be the best at what I do and how I grow. My Sister Circles I bounce ideas off of them they pray for me and they have just been a helping hand along the way.
