Today we’d like to introduce you to Hala Helstien.
Hi Hala, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved animals ever since I was a child. I got my first job at a family-owned pet store in Laguna Niguel, and I loved it. I met my future husband, and we decided to open our own shop. He gave me the confidence and with the help of him and my family, Hala’s Paws was born in 2011! I wanted to focus on the health and well-being of dogs and cats. My first location is in Ladera Ranch, and I opened my second location in Mission Viejo in 2019. I’m super grateful for all my customers and their furry family members!!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been smooth. I had to work the store by myself every day for the first few years before I could afford to hire help. The second location has been challenging in bringing new customers. I’ve had to try different types of marketing and hosting events to draw people in.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Hala’s Paws?
Hala’s Paws is a family-owned pet boutique that specializes in offering the best products in the industry to your pets. I understand that our pets are our children and we want them to live long healthy lives. I carry high-quality food, such as raw and freshly cooked. I also host events such as Yappy Hour and our annual Hala-ween costume contest. I do photography as a hobby so I offer different portrait events throughout the year that sets us apart from other pet stores. We also carry our own line of handmade fabric collars, leashes, bow ties, flowers, and Bandanas. All made by my mother!
What are your plans for the future?
My future plans are to continue to grow both stores and always provide the best customer service.
