Community Highlights: Meet Ghia Arroyo of Arroyo Arrangements

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ghia Arroyo.

Ghia Arroyo

Hi Ghia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
First ever self-made bouquet started in Sept of 2021 when creating one for my grandma’s birthday. Simply collecting blooms from Trader Joes and outside on my porch, I found it extremely therapeutic during the process. I’ve always been a fan of art with different mediums, but there was something about using nature that kept me grounded. For the first year, I just kept at doing deliveries and finally got the courage to freelance for other florists in their events. It opened up the possibilities and got my creative juices flowing.

Every freelance gig good or bad experience I got, I learned from. Everything I have learned has now been incorporated in my business or floral design skills in one way or another. In late 2023, I continued to always be a student first and now have done my own events and rostered onto one of Los Angeles’s biggest productions teams.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Never, lol. Especially with any business, whatever industry you are in. My primary family has never has a stable, established business so trying to figure out of the ropes of figuring out markups/pricing, website, and taxes has mainly been the struggle. Breaking my imposter syndrome was a struggle at first when being a business owner but thankfully the majority of florists I have come across do not gatekeep and have given advice.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Arroyo Arrangements?
I specialize in event floral design! A lot of clients would probably associate me with POPS of Color. No matter how I try, I cannot stray away. What sets me apart I would say is I love to travel so when putting these creations together I do try and bring in some culture to it whether it’s local or my Filipino ancestral roots. I am very open to learning different styles and just want to put a little ZING to it.

I am proud to be putting out onto my portfolio funky and textural creations as well as really trying to become foam-free. I am not 100% foam-free yet, but working on that. I think my portfolio and upcoming events will demonstrate my love for funky creations while being kind to the Earth. I would like my readers to know if you are a fan of art and non-Pinterest floral creations… looking to make something new, I am a gal up for that challenge and hit me up so I can design a fresh vision.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Being fulfilled spiritually, mentally, physically, and financially. If your business is not doing that for you is it worth it? I recommend reading “The Science of Getting Rich” By Wallace D. Wattles.
