Hi Erik, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2008, I graduated and immediately entered the commercial real estate sector just as the banking crisis unfolded. Despite the challenging start, where I earned only $350 in a year in Los Angeles, I quickly adapted. I shifted to launching an online music company, which I led for two years before hiring a CEO to manage it. Following this, I successfully built and sold two e-commerce companies by the age of 26.

Identifying a market need while consulting for various brands, I observed that many agencies lacked expertise or were inaccessible due to high costs and inflexible contracts. I formed a team of specialized marketers to fill this gap and launched Hawke Media, offering flexible, affordable marketing solutions. This venture quickly grew in value and reach, serving over 4,500 brands globally and gaining recognition as the fastest-growing marketing agency in the U.S. We’ve had the privilege of working with high-profile clients like Red Bull, Verizon, and Crocs.

Beyond marketing, my expansion into investments included Hawke Ventures, raising $25 million in its second fund, and the launch of HawkeAI to revolutionize analytics for over 7,000 companies. Additionally, I started Hawke Capital to help brands grow through its various financing solutions, which has provided over $10 million to its clients to allow them to scale their marketing efforts. My efforts have earned industry acclaim, including Forbes Magazine’s 30Under30 and Inc. Magazine’s Top 25 Marketing Influencers. As a best-selling author and marketing expert, I continue to explore new business and marketing horizons.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In my entrepreneurial journey, I’ve learned that building a business is inherently challenging. It’s a path filled with obstacles, yet it’s the perspective that matters. I don’t know any entrepreneur who has developed a business over a decade and would say it was easy. These struggles are not just inevitable but crucial for growth and learning. Overcoming them has been an integral and rewarding part of the process, significantly enhancing both my personal and professional development.
