Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Michelle R. Hannah
Hi Dr. Michelle R. , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey began with a deep desire to help others understand and heal from life’s challenges. After earning two doctorates, I dove into personal development and coaching, realizing that many people struggle to live authentically due to unhealed emotional wounds. This led me to write The Breaking Point: A Full Circle Journey in 2012, where I explored the pivotal moments that shape us.
Since then, I’ve authored several more books, including The Self Vows series, which empowers individuals to commit to personal growth and transformation. My coaching style is rooted in empathy, transparency, and compassion, and I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals and couples from various walks of life, including CEOs and those seeking purpose or struggling with challenges like intimacy, emotional healing, healthy business intimacy, PTSD and ultimately being authentic .
Today, my focus is on expanding my programs, such as Self Vows and Business Intimacy, to support both personal and business growth. My work is driven by a passion for helping others live fulfilled, purposeful lives through spiritual, emotional, and relational healing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but each challenge has shaped my journey. One of the biggest struggles was learning to ask for help, as I often didn’t want to burden others or face disappointment. Navigating personal and professional setbacks was also tough. There were times when I questioned whether my work was reaching the people it needed to, or if I was truly making a difference.
Additionally, balancing my own emotional healing while helping others heal was challenging. As a coach, you sometimes carry the weight of others’ struggles, and I had to learn how to set boundaries to protect my own well-being. Despite these difficulties, each struggle has reinforced the importance of transparency and authenticity in my life and work. Through those trials, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the power of healing and how necessary it is to live an authentic, purposeful life.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business, Mikel Life Coaching LLC, is dedicated to helping individuals and small businesses grow through a range of transformative programs. At the core of what I do is The Self Vows series, which empowers people to make meaningful commitments to themselves, transforming their lives from the inside out. This series includes programs tailored for all ages: couples (The Vows: A Workbook for Marriage Success and Understanding Yourself), individuals (The Self Vows: Seven Vows That Will Change Your Life), as well as The Self Vows Littles and The Self Vows for Teens, which focus on emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
I also specialize in the Business Intimacy program, designed to help small businesses and entrepreneurs build authentic, purpose-driven foundations. What sets my work apart is the unique combination of personal and professional development rooted in spiritual and emotional growth. I don’t just focus on strategies or superficial fixes—I help clients heal deeply, understand their purpose, and align their business or personal life with their true values.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the authenticity and transparency that runs through all my work. My coaching style is compassionate and empathetic, and I meet people where they are, helping them embrace their journeys with self-compassion. Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding a mentor and building a strong network can be transformative for personal and professional growth. Here are a few tips that have worked well for me:
1. Be Clear About Your Goals: Before seeking a mentor, be clear on what you want to achieve. Whether it’s career advancement, personal growth, or navigating a specific challenge, knowing what you’re looking for helps you find the right mentor who aligns with your needs.
2. Seek Authentic Connections: Networking isn’t just about collecting contacts; it’s about building meaningful relationships. Reach out to people who inspire you and with whom you feel a genuine connection. Authenticity is key, and people can sense when your interest is sincere.
3. Leverage Social Media: Platforms like LinkedIn and Instagram are great for connecting with professionals in your field. Engage with their content, participate in discussions, and don’t hesitate to send a thoughtful message explaining why you admire their work and would like to learn from them.
4. Attend Industry Events: Conferences, workshops, and networking events are excellent opportunities to meet like-minded individuals and potential mentors. Be open and approachable, and remember that mentorship can happen organically.
5. Offer Value: Mentoring is a two-way street. While you’re seeking guidance, think about how you can offer value in return. It could be as simple as sharing insights, helping with a project, or offering support in their initiatives.
6. Be Patient and Persistent: Building a strong network and finding a mentor doesn’t happen overnight. Be patient and persistent. Continue reaching out, following up, and nurturing relationships over time.
What has worked well for me is seeking out mentors who resonate with my values and have a track record of overcoming challenges I admire. I also prioritize genuine connections rather than focusing on how someone can advance my career. This approach has led to relationships that feel supportive and aligned with my personal and professional growth.
