Community Highlights: Meet Dr. Jenny Stofer of Conceive Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Jenny Stofer.

Dr. Jenny Stofer

Dr. Stofer, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The magic of alternative medicine was introduced to me at the age of 19. I was amazed when a chiropractic neurologist explained the connection between brain function and getting my spine adjusted. I felt my body level up in a way I had never experienced before, getting rid of ailments I thought I was stuck with for life and reducing the need for any medication.

This newfound level of health led me passionately towards the path of natural healthcare. Fast forward to becoming a board-certified prenatal chiropractor and seeing thousands of positive results from adjustments, I have witnessed firsthand that there is a different paradigm of health available to all of us. An empowered way to retain health versus respond to sickness.

My specialized chiropractic and fertility practice, Conceive Wellness, was born in 2017 after the birth of my second baby. It has grown to 2 locations, serving patients on the west side of LA and Pasadena.

What inspires me eternally is that I have the opportunity to guide patients through the tender stages of trying to conceive, pregnancy, and healing from birth. These stages typically carry more physical and emotional stress and need therapeutic support. There may be structural issues or muscle tightness, those with emotion held in their bodies, and possibly seeking for a way to clear physical and energetic blocks. Witnessing their transformation is beautiful and being a part of this intimate process is truly a gift.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Real talk- starting a business in LA with two kids under three was nothing short of intimidating. But I believe that if you want to create something in this life, you need to have the gumption to start somewhere and then do the tough part… not give up. Seeing the results in my practice of healthy, comfortable pregnancies and babies being born gave me this courage.

I love connecting with my patients and working alongside other talented birthworkers, and found that the birth community within this vast city to be very welcoming. My practice has grown steadily into what it is today. And as a result, I am able to hold space for patients in high demand careers that are navigating the transition into working mom.

Like motherhood, the challenges of building a practice have yielded the most growth and wisdom and have brought me a lot of gratitude.

We’ve been impressed with Conceive Wellness, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Conceive Wellness was developed to promote positive outcomes in preparing the pelvis for birth, to help labor go more smoothly, and attend to all the aches and pains that can happen throughout pregnancy. The result is that patients feel empowered and more connected to their body when entering into labor and healing from birth.

The prenatal care we offer is comprehensive and differs from other chiropractic practices in that I truly take my time with patients. The visits are 30 minutes or one hour in length and include individualized soft tissue release, alignment, and holistic coaching.

Mercier Therapy is a specialty offering provided to help with fertility outcomes. I accompany women throughout their natural or IVF cycle utilizing Mercier Therapy (abdominal gynovisceral massage).

Our newest offering, the Postpartum Body Reset, melds the two types of bodywork together to help the postpartum mom recover. By releasing areas stressed from labor or breastfeeding, mothers find they have more energy to get through such a depleting time. The healing and gentle womb massage helps release scar tissue and move lymphatic fluid potentially stuck in the pelvis. This is especially beneficial after a cesarean or traumatic birth experience.

We also offer highly skilled massage therapy from a certified prenatal massage therapist. This care helps with the aches and pains of pregnancy and is great for general relaxation.

I am a board-certified Doctor of Chiropractic, certified Mercier Therapy practitioner, an active member of the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association), certified in Webster Technique, a Reiki healer, and attend many post-doctoral seminars on fertility, pregnancy, and pediatrics.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
The riskiest endeavor to date was making the decision to remain open throughout the global pandemic that we all endured. I watched as the majority of my patients lost all of their prenatal visits from other providers they were seeing. The care they were heavily relying upon to help them have a successful birth experience had suddenly ended. I knew that the care I could provide relieved their aches and reduced their stress. I knew that aligning the pelvis allows for a shorter labor time and less birth intervention.

I weighed the risks and devised a way to continue to work that reduced exposure on every level. And with a masked face, gloved hands, and sterilized environment, we kept our doors open. In retrospect, I am glad I took this risk, as it positively affected the health of families that were desperately seeking support during that tough time.
