Hi Dory, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hemp World USA was a vision that evolved from two contrasting worlds. I was in business operations for many years focusing in construction & medical management. My life & now business partner, Brett Kloepfer, was in the cannabis industry from the early days of medical legalization in California.
We were both frustrated working for others so we decided to put our heads together. With his industry knowledge and my business experience, we launched Hemp World USA in the spring of 2019. Working day and night we opened our first brick & mortar location in North Hollywood. Soon we had sparked an area of health, wellness and well-being that had never been done quite like this. We quickly became the buzz of the neighborhood & before long we had all walks of life, all ages and even four-legged fur babies at our door seeking our knowledge and guidance in this somewhat gray area for most.
I had never used cannabis. I also had the stigma that is so easily placed on CBD Hemp products; “that it will get me high”. Suffering from migraines for as long as I can remember I turned to CBD for relief from the pain & nausea and to my surprise I wasn’t high! Only pain-free and feeling so much better. Within a few months, we knew that this was just the beginning and on the edge of something really big. Three months in we opened our second brick-and-mortar location in Thousand Oaks, bringing our knowledge and experience to the Conejo Valley. A community which has a large retirement base in need of CBD for arthritis, pain, sleep issues, etc.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been anything but a smooth road. Take all the typical challenges that a startup is faced with and then compound it with the timing of covid six months after opening our doors.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The need to be flexible and keep all lines of communication open while safely providing first-class customer service. This led us to personally delivering to our clients whether it was leaving a “Healing the future” bag on their doorstep or offering delivery service at their retirement living facility during a time when their own children were unable to visit them. We were even known to include a trip or two to the market or pick up their dinner if our client was unable to during the crisis due to health concerns. It was during this uncertain time we realized our clients became our friends & family all these years later. I truly believe we have become shining light of relief and hope in what used to be a gray area to so many.
