Community Highlights: Meet Diba Alemi of Alemi Law Group, PC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diba Alemi.

Hi Diba, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I opened my law firm a little over four years ago, but the dream started long before that. During my first few years as an attorney working at other firms, I often caught myself thinking, “One day, I’m going to do this on my own.”

By 2021, that “one day” could no longer wait. There was this fire inside me — an unshakable feeling that it was time to stop waiting for the “perfect moment” and just take the leap. I wanted the freedom to build a firm that truly reflected my values: a place where clients feel safe, heard, and genuinely supported. A place where they know their attorney has their back.

But I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t terrifying. I had all the typical doubts — How will I find clients? Will I make enough to keep the lights on? Do I know enough about running a business, not just practicing law? The truth is, most law firms don’t teach you how to run one. I could litigate a case with confidence, but business strategy felt like a mystery.

I shared my fears with my friend David, who already had his own firm. He told me something that stuck with me and changed everything:
“Feel the Fear — and Do It Anyway.”

That became my mantra. I decided to rip the bandage off and trust myself.

Starting out wasn’t easy. There were late nights, moments of doubt, and times when sitting in the dark not knowing what the future held felt overwhelming. But I wouldn’t trade any of it. Today, I’m proud to lead Alemi Law Group, PC, where we help consumers who’ve purchased defective vehicles and individuals who’ve been injured in accidents.

What inspires me most is the ability to make people feel cared for in a system that often feels cold or intimidating. Attorneys don’t always have the best reputation — and I want to change that, one client at a time. My goal has always been to create a firm where trust, empathy, and integrity are non-negotiable.

Owning a law firm has also taught me that leadership is about service. The world needs more leaders who act with honesty and courage — and in my own small way, I try to be that for my clients and peers. When other attorneys reach out for advice about starting their own firm, I always make time to share what I’ve learned, because lifting others up is how we raise the bar for our entire profession.

If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s this: You don’t need to have every answer before you start. You just need the courage to take the first step — even when you’re scared — and trust that you’ll figure out the rest along the way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not — and honestly, I don’t think it ever is when you’re building something from scratch. Opening my own law firm came with countless challenges. In the beginning, I had no roadmap. I knew how to practice law, but running a business was an entirely different skill set. Suddenly, I was not only an attorney but also a strategist, marketer, and IT person — all rolled into one.

There were moments when I questioned everything. The uncertainty of not knowing where the next client would come from or whether I was making the right decisions was incredibly stressful. There were months of sleepless nights, times I sat in my office wondering if I had made a mistake. One of the greatest turning points for the firm was when Madeline Read joined our team as Office Manager. Her dedication, organization, and genuine care for our clients brought a new level of structure and energy to the firm. Since she came on board, the firm has continued to grow and thrive in ways that truly reflect our shared vision.

One of the hardest lessons was learning to trust myself. When you start your own business, everyone has an opinion — what you should do, what you shouldn’t do, when you should grow, when you should hold back. I had to learn to quiet the noise and listen to my intuition.

But through every setback, I kept reminding myself why I started: to create a firm where clients truly feel cared for and represented with heart. Every challenge taught me something invaluable — how to be resourceful, how to lead with integrity, and how to keep pushing forward even when things feel uncertain.

Looking back, those struggles were necessary. They forced me to grow not just as an attorney, but as a leader, business owner, and person. The road hasn’t been smooth — but it’s been meaningful, and that’s what makes it all worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Alemi Law Group, PC is a California-based law firm dedicated to protecting consumers and individuals who have been wronged — whether that means helping someone who purchased a defective vehicle or fighting for justice after an injury. We focus primarily on California Lemon Law and Personal Injury cases, but at the heart of what we do is something much deeper: advocating for people who need a voice and deserve fairness.

What sets us apart is our approach. We don’t treat clients like case numbers. Every person who calls our office is treated with empathy, respect, and transparency. Legal issues can be stressful and intimidating, and my goal has always been to create a space where clients feel safe, informed, and genuinely supported. Many of our clients come to us after feeling dismissed or unheard by others — and restoring that trust is one of the most rewarding parts of our work.

I’m most proud of the reputation our firm has built for being compassionate yet relentless. We genuinely care about the people we represent, and we fight hard for them. Our clients know that when they hire us, they’re getting a team that truly has their back — from start to finish.

Brand-wise, I’m proud that Alemi Law Group represents integrity, courage, and compassion. Those three values are at the core of everything we do. Whether it’s standing up to large auto manufacturers or helping someone recover after an accident, our mission is to make sure justice is accessible and personal.

For readers who may not know where to start or who might feel intimidated by the legal process, I want them to know: you don’t have to go through it alone. We’re here to guide, protect, and empower you — every step of the way. At Alemi Law Group, clients never pay upfront for attorney’s fees. In Lemon Law cases, our fees are paid by the auto manufacturer at the end of the case, and in Personal Injury matters, we only get paid once your case settles, taking a percentage of the recovery.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next decade, I see the legal industry becoming more collaborative and human-centered — and I want to be part of that change. My hope is to reach a point where I can help other attorneys who are just starting their own firms grow and thrive. One of the biggest challenges in running a firm is building a consistent client base, and I’d love to be in a position where I can refer cases to new firms and help them gain momentum.

I already do this on a smaller scale, but my goal is to expand that effort — to create a ripple effect of support and mentorship within the legal community. The industry needs more leaders who aren’t afraid to lift others up and share what they’ve learned along the way.

While I don’t plan to step away from practicing law myself, I do see my role evolving into something bigger than just running a firm — I want to help shape a culture where attorneys collaborate, empower each other, and ultimately raise the standard for how clients are served. To me, that’s how we create lasting, positive change in this profession.
