Community Highlights: Meet Cesar Funes of Funes Exclusive Suits

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cesar Funes

Hi Cesar, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story starts back in my country El Salvador. I came to the US specifically Los Angeles CA. I was 15 years old then, I went to high school graduated and then after I was planning on going to colleg to continue with my studies but unfortunately when you are an immigrant the opportunities are less. I couldn’t afford college so I decided to start working. Thanks to a really good friend of mine I came across a opportunity to start working in DTLA in the fashion district. There’s a saying that goes “ if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life” I loved working in the Suits apparel industry. I got hired by a Persian senior that taught me a lot about fashion and ways to dress properly when it came to suits. I loved the sales as well I had in me to be a good sales man. I loved giving my best costumer service. After 8 years working for other people I was able to save enough money to open my own bussines suit store. After struggles and hard times I was able to do my own thing and I’ve been loving every second of it. God did, he was my support all the way and he’s the reason why everything worked out well for me. God did.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was never easy. Nothing comes easy. There were times where I struggled to get through the week when I didn’t have enough money but God was always there for me; he provided.

We’ve been impressed with Funes Exclusive Suits , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Funes Exclusive Suits, is a family bussines. We specialize on men and kids formal wear. We got a variety of suits and tuxidos. Single breasted, double breasted. Checkers, stretch, slim fit, regular fit suits and more. We also have a tailor shop who we work with they can make any adjustment and alterations for your cloths.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I think the best way to find a mentor is to get out there to always be open to learn new stuff and new people. For me was when I started working I never had a mentee per say not even in my family my dad was never in the picture so when I stared working in the suit industry my former boss was like a mentor to me he taught a lot about the bussines and a lot about life as well.
