Community Highlights: Meet Bryce Turner of Beach Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryce Turner.

Bryce, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Grew up in Long Beach, CA. Wen to UC Sant Cruz as a pre med major and settled with pre-physical therapy – degree in physical anthropology. Plan was to apply to PT school and got a job as a trainer. Fell in love with fitness and started my own facility in 2006 after losing out in a bad business deal with some partners that ran off with our investment money. Started education in fitness with chek institute in San Diego. Finished most of program and found Guy VOYER DO and started learning from him in 2012. Now ten years later, I am one of the main instructors for the program teaching students around the US and working with professional sports teams. I am finishing up Voyer’s osteopath program.

15 years in business we have expanded our seal Beach location 3 times and had a second facility 6 miles away in Los Alamitos for seven years that closed early in 2021 because of Covid hardship.

I have been married for 13 years and have three kids – 11, 9, and 6.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Started in business in 2005 with crooked partners that ran off with my business partner and my investment along with leaving employees without pay and charged clients with for in used packages.

Started our facility in 2006 with nothing.

2008 market crashed which was a hit to business.

2009 started doing CrossFit. Had a successful program only to have three coaches leave over three years taking most of the community with them and opening competitor facilities.

2013 we opened a 2nd location because one of our staff wanted to expand and partner with us – 1 year later, he threw in the towel.

2019 one of our partners unexpectedly died.

2020 Covid

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Beach Fitness?
We are about good people. Most of our client community has been with us for 15+ years.

Most of our staff has been with us for 5+ years.

We encourage growth in the brand but self-development too. We are big in education for our staff to give the opportunity for our staff to specialize and bring knowledge to our clients on all levels.

We have a comprehensive service facility offering group fitness, personal training, corrective and rehabilitation fitness, and our therapy suite that incorporates acupuncture, chiropractic, physical therapy, massage therapy, and nutrition.

We regularly participate in community events for the city of seal beach and in addition, we support several charity organizations yearly.

We want to provide the best fitness and wellness services we can while focusing on our of the box and new techniques to lead the industry. Ex: ELDOA, Fumanet.

We are inclusive and work together in our fitness and therapy staff to provide encompassing health services to promote longevity.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
It is easy to say I like to help people but I also love the diversity of what we do while owning a business. I love the challenges and puzzles we are faced with daily whether with client cases or with business. I love being creative and working with people.
