Community Highlights: Meet Brenda Chhuor of With Love, B Weddings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Chhuor.

Hi Brenda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, I was always fascinated with weddings and daydreamed about my very own wedding and which designer dress I would wear, my ideal color pallets and how big my ring would be. I became even more intrigued in the industry when I, just like everyone else obsessed with the royal family, decided to stay up all night to watch Will and Kate’s Royal Wedding. Just like every little girl who wanted to be a princess, that was the wedding that did it for me. Fast forward a few years later, my sister called me and decided to volunteer me as a tribute to coordinate her friend’s wedding. With little to no knowledge, I took on that challenge and did everything I could to prepare myself for what would be my future occupation. This wedding was perfectly executed without a hitch and from then on, I knew I wanted to continue with this role. By 2013, I became a Certified Event and Wedding Consultant.

Throughout the years, I explored other aspects of the wedding industry aside from planning, including floral and event design, stationary and catering/ sales management. Although I gained a handful of skills from these experiences, wedding planning was still my calling. By 2020, during the pandemic, I decided to invest my full time into this rewarding role as Owner and Founder of With Love, B Weddings. Fast forward to 2023, With Love, B Weddings has grown into a full team of passionate ladies ready to plan and coordinate weddings and events in Los Angeles, Orange County and all surrounding areas including destination weddings.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Working for yourself as owner and founder of a small business is never a smooth road. There definitely have been challenges that tested my patience and questioned my decision.

Keeping up with the economy, staying up to date with social media, understanding financing, learning about all things business and managing time, people and their needs and all obstacles and walls that I’ve hit multiple times. But this is definitely a learning struggle I’ve learned to cope with and wouldn’t trade it in for anything else.

The past few years, I’ve learned to push myself out of my comfort zone in order to obtain certain goals. As difficult as these growing pains are, it is also a rewarding feeling knowing how independent this role really made me become, and best of all, seeing how happy our clients are with our team and services.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Honestly, I’m not much of a reader or a podcast listener. I’m a person-to-person, hands-on experience, learn from your mistakes type of person. To me, I truly believe in learning from failed attempts in order to gain knowledge and experiences. Speaking to other mentors and thriving professionals inside and outside the industry has taught me certain skills I never thought I needed to have as a business owner.
