

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arpita Bagri.
Hi Arpita, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started the business when I was 16. I was based in Mumbai then. I moved to Bangalore in 2000 and formalized my business. It was then that I was recognized by the Govt. of Karnataka as a Small-Scale Industry and a recognized Artisan. Most recently, I moved to America in 2016. I restarted my business here in 2018, and since then, I have grown here in the Bay Area, covering customers in the USA and now across the globe.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The challenges that I face have been multipronged, but the most relevant of these include Innovation, product quality, and product availability at affordable prices. Establishing myself in a new country right from scratch was very difficult but at the same time, doing so and carrying the reputation of my Brand as the trusted partner for affordable Festive Decor and Gifts with the latest offerings and newest products has been a steep learning curve. Also, serving customers both Online and in-person was a major challenge which we have overcome.
How has being woman of Asian / Indian origin impacted you as a business owner?
Being an Indian (Asian) by birth and Origin meant that the community addressed was limited. Most of the people here from the Indian community know what they want, where to get it from, and what it would cost. There is an obvious tendency to compare and only then pay what they would attach as a $$ for the product, discounting the value it brings to their decorations. My goal has been to not only make it easy for the customers to find what they need under one roof at affordable prices but also provide them with the latest offerings which are available in India. Also, I cater to the various communities and regions in India, which helps me with business expansion.
We’ve been impressed with Spundhann, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Arpita runs the business. She has the vision and plans the innovation and the new products and works with vendors across the globe to keep the pipeline strong with the latest and unusual solutions for home decor. Arpita is a passionate and enterprising individual with strong entrepreneurial knowledge. With over 20 years of experience, she has extensive proficiency in large-scale event planning, coordination, and execution. As the founder of Spundhann, she has garnered an astute command over international business protocols and thrives on building relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers. She firmly believes in customer satisfaction and providing them with the highest quality products and services, which enhances their homes much more than the value of the product.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My first business venture which was to make cards for Hallmark and retail them thru the local store.
