Good day to all, I am Angelica Carter, or just Angel, founder of Celestial Beauty Store. Celestial Beauty Store first began on Etsy.com back in 2017. From then on, we have grown from online sales to in-person sales, even physical locations, and soon, a storefront. The mission has always been to provide you with the luxurious tools needed for prosperity & wellness. This is not your average beauty store. We find that ‘beauty’ is holistic. Here, you will find things not only for your body but also for your soul and mind too. Whether that’s jewelry, skincare, home decor, accessories or intentional journals. We believe that ‘beauty’ roots from the spirit, travels through the mind, and lastly reveals itself in the body. This process is unique to each person’s own truth and desires. That’s why we promote luxurious self-love and intentional self-care by using ancient ingredients, practices, and traditions to aid in your journey to self-discovery.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road through this journey has not been easy. Once I graduated college in 2017, I immediately started this business. With no business knowledge, I might add. Somehow, my excitement overshadowed my ignorance. My first products were a body butter and two types of facial oils: one for sensitive skin and one for normal skin. I didn’t expect to sell out of them all within three months of starting. I’ll admit I did tell everyone I knew and didn’t know about my new business venture, and that’s when I discovered how natural I was to the process of marketing and promoting. So, I started adding more products to my store and received not only more sales but rave reviews. From them, I took every photo, wrote every description, and made or collaborated in making over 50 products online. Ran multiple social media pages and, in 2021, attained my LLC. The first year, I took a loss. What I spent was more than what I made. I ended up getting a job to help with the expenses. The second year, I made more than the previous but only retained a small profit. What kept me motivated was not money-related. I truly aspired to offer affordable ancient, and luxurious wellness products to all modern people. Each time I shipped out a customer’s order and received a 5-star review, it would always bring tears to my eyes. Because once again, I did it. I offered someone, somewhere in the world with something that will help them on their journey. Right now, I have faced some of the biggest challenges in my business. Since February of this year, I regrettably had to stop fulfilling orders and attending events. I couldn’t keep up with my expenses of running a business. As well as other important business practices that I was ignorant too. So, I decided to play the long game and take accountability. I would go back to school for business and build up capital to properly run my business effectively. As of now, I am taking business classes and forming a new business plan to resume operations. I am doing this not because I want to be rich and famous. I am doing this because every day and night, all I think about is this brand. How to improve it, expand it, and sustain it. It has given me so much joy as well as pain. Also, I know that I am the only one who can make this dream into a reality if I’m willing to do the work. As I enter this new chapter of my business, I look back and realize how confident I was in the beginning with no knowledge that now, presently, with more experience and knowledge, I am even more confident because even if I do fail, I can still start again.
