Community Highlights: Meet Alexa Pontello of Alexa Shae Style LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Pontello

Hi Alexa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Los Angeles and knew from an early age that I wanted a career in fashion. I got started with styling by assisting celebrity stylists in LA, including Taylor Jacobson, for a number of years and then transitioned to the e-commerce styling world. I was a private client stylist at Moda Operandi until June of 2020 when I got laid off due to the pandemic. Out of the darkness of the pandemic, Alexa Shae Style was born and I’m so grateful to have built my business from the ground up

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting your own business is never easy. Taking the leap into the unknown at the beginning is scary because it’s a big risk but it’s worth it! I think I learn something new about my business everyday and of course, I have made plenty of mistakes but you learn from them and move on. Some of the struggles that I face is not being too hard on myself when those mishaps do happen but I have learned to be more forgiving and patient in the process.

We’ve been impressed with Alexa Shae Style LLC , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a personal wardrobe stylist and shopper, I offer a range of luxury services including closet clean outs, lookbooks, and in-person fittings. My goal is to help my clients feel comfortable in their own skin and confident in their wardrobes. I also believe there this is no ‘one size fits all’ in fashion so I tailor my services to best fit my client’s individual style, budget, and specific needs. I take pride in the relationships I build with my clients and it’s been amazing to watch their style evolve over time. Often, people don’t realize that styling is collaborative and it’s a journey that I undertake alongside my clients.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Styling is all about staying organized, especially in my busy office where clothing is constantly coming and going for various clients and projects. While I take my work seriously, I also like to keep things fun with my clients. It is sad for me to see the negative feelings many have towards fashion whether that be feeling stressed about what to wear for a special event or simply not feeling confident in their outfit choices. So, during appointments, I aim to keep things relaxed and enjoyable, helping to shift their outlook towards clothing as a source of empowerment and a beautiful form of self-expression, rather than a cause for negativity.
