

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alberto Meza.
Hi Alberto, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a Dentist from Costa Rica, I come from a long line of dentists, 5th generation. I did my post-graduate training, on Cosmetic Dentistry and dental implants, at UCLA. Back in 2002, I started a dental clinic in San Jose, Costa Rica, where we serve American patients, who travel for high-quality and affordable dentistry. I have developed a tranning system so our co-workers can deliver the same dentistry I do, so we can be predictable and we can duplicate the model. That is why we have a second facility in Cancun, Mexico. We want to offer not only high-quality dentistry at affordable prices, but great touristic destinations (this is called dental tourism) This industry has helped thousands of Americans looking to get the smile of their dreams and enjoy beautiful destinations while saving money.
Through this journey, and due to my passion about cosmetic dentistry, I decided I wanted to be accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, so I started the process and got accredited in 2015. This sets me as the first Dentist from Latin America accredited by this prestigious academy.
The model has been very efficient that we are into expansion on some other beautiful destinations such as Los Cabos, Punta Cana, Dubai and others.
I am very humble to say this idea has brought the opportunity to lots of people, not only to our co-workers but to thousands of patients, as well.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As anything in life, there have been good times and difficult ones. I just try to learn from them to move on. Back in 2008 when the American market was crushed, I thought difficult times were coming. Indeed, people stopped consuming Cosmetic Dentistry but started consuming more dental implants. There was an opportunity to adapt. When we were growing, I was the managing head. And of course, that was difficult since I am only a Dentist, so I made lots of mistakes that slowed down the growing process.
Later on, my son Marcelo took over the managing, and things became smoother for me, and we started to have a much more stable route.
But probably the biggest struggle was the pandemic. Costa Rica closed the borders for nine months, so we were unemployed and it became hard to support such a big team.
As an opportunity, we made our costs much smaller and grew back and stronger.

Meza Dental Care is a dental tourism company, this means patients travel from all over the world to get dental treatment and enjoy a vacation and always saving money. It is important to let the audience understand our company focuses on delivering exceptional dentistry at affordable prices. We achieve that by training in the USA and by being accredited in the US, as well. Besides exceptional dentistry, we offer world-class customer service to our patients. We work hard on trying to change the idea of visiting the dentist is not fun.
Our team is always there to help our patients with lodging, transfers, tours and any travel arrangements.
We focus on Cosmetic and implant dentistry. This entails digital smile design, veneers, dental implants, all on X implants, full mouth restorations and everything needed to get the most beautiful and functional mouth.
Our reputation and consistent results set us apart from the offer in the dental tourism industry. Our reputation we have built it over 20 years in the market and our consistency and predictability is based on the training system and manuals we have developed through 20 years.
We are super proud to change people’s lives with a new Meza Smile. It is incredible they look at the mirror, with their new Meza smile, for the first time. The facial expression is priceless, and sometimes they even cry.
We know it is very difficult to make the decision of traveling to another country to get a medical/dental treatment, that is why we treat you like family and we strive to make their experience a goldmark on their life.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Ever since I had to work hard to build my future by training abroad to achieve a world-class service and fulfill international patient’s needs, I have developed a system to train our co-workers, the same way I did, so they can have the opportunity to grow professionally and economically within our brand. This creates loyalty and ambassadors of our brand. Also, by living and training in the US I found by practicing abroad I would be able to help way much more people because of the lower fees we are able to charge, rather than the US high prices.
My goal was always, to offer US quality and standards at affordable pricing.
