Today we’d like to introduce you to Vladimir Valencia, Juan Melgar, Jose Higareda, Ossiel Rico, and James Andrade.
Vladimir, Juan, Jose, Ossie, and James, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Our story as a band began around the summer of 2016. While still attending Magnolia High in Anaheim, there were a few projects before The Beachstones came into existence. Even though the group consists of high school friends, it wasn’t until our third year of high school where we got together to write songs. We’ve had to cut out certain members, who are still very close to us, in order to get The Beachstones going. While playing shows around Orange County and San Diego, we’ve come across the community of music lovers that elevate the music scene all around.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
We are a surf rock band with a pinch of punk and indie. We create music that can make people feel something and dance to. Usually, one of our members has an idea for a song, and we all come together to contribute ideas to it. We write music because we simply love it, there’s no deep explanation other than our desire to give people a good experience when they listen to us. The message we want people to get from us is that no matter who you are, or what your story or background is, you can always be whatever you want one way or another, we want to give a positive message and a positive experience to people. Something you should know about our artwork is that we truly put everything we have into it and people vibe off of that, whether it’s by dancing to the beat of our songs, or simply listening to our recordings.
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
The biggest challenge for artists today is probably getting their name out there. We’ve noticed that many artists sometimes have a hard time promoting themselves and getting their name out there. Whether they are songwriters, photographers, artists, etc. it seems like a challenge for everyone really.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can see our work at shows that we perform at. Usually, we perform around Orange County and sometimes San Diego. Just showing up to any one of our shows is a form of support in our eyes and also listening to our music on music platforms such as Apple Music or Spotify.
