Check Out Victor Ramos’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Ramos.

Hi Victor, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in the projects to a close-knit Puerto Rican family. As a child, I felt different to other boys and knew I was gay but didn’t explore my sexuality till I was a teenager. I was actually outed by someone’s mother whom I went to school with but my family was actually very accepting of this. Around the time I was graduating high school (2014) I started my journey with makeup and began casually posting products and looks. From there, brands began to take notice and I began receiving PR which at the time was very new to noncelebrities/makeup artists. In 2016 Make Up For Ever reached out to me to take part in a beauty campaign and the rest is history! I moved to Los Angeles in early 2017 and from there on out, I’ve worked as a full-time Beauty Influencer and have recently expanded to entertainment content.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I experienced homelessness in late 2017/early 2018 and refused to go back home because my gut told me to stick it out but it was a very difficult decision knowing that I could just go back home and feel safe. I would sleep on an air mattress at different friend’s homes and lived a pretty nomadic life during this time. I felt like such a bother to be honest but I am so grateful for the people that helped me during this time. Being a New Yorker and living in Los Angeles was also such a culture shock because New Yorkers have a more direct and clear manner of communication that may come across as aggressive on the West Coast so I was largely misunderstood especially in my first two years of living here. The industry I’m in requires a version of “people skills” that is vastly different to how people interact back home.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am mostly known for my makeup looks on social media but have recently expanded to more entertainment-based content. I am absolutely obsessed with pop culture so I like to recreate my favorite films, reality shows and music videos. I am a one man band and do the filming, editing, acting and everything else you can think of! I am honestly just really proud of the fact that I am able to represent people that are not represented largely within my industry and overall mainstream media. I am always craving something new so I think my constant evolution sets me apart from a lot of my peers, whom are extremely talented nonetheless!

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I used to work with people earlier on in my journey but I am super particular about what I want and how to execute it so I’ve been able to be largely self-sufficient at this point. My followers, close friends and family are my biggest supporters so they are the ones I show the greatest appreciation for because they’ve positioned to be in a circumstance where I call the shots in my life.
