Check out Rae Khalil’s Music

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rae Khalil.

Born and raised in Torrance, CA. Rae Khalil is a 23-year-old, rising r&b/hip-hop Artist. Raised by a single mother, Rae’s natural creative talent was encouraged from a young age through musical theatre. Rae has made a name for herself locally due to her captivating live performance, Singing was always a love of Raes, but it wasn’t until middle school/high school that Rae began taking rapping very seriously – realizing her natural talent as an emcee.

Growing up, Rae was typically the only Black student in all of her classes. Hip hop/Music is where she found her voice, her home, her sanctuary.

Heavily inspired by generational artists (Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Anderson Paak) – Rae is already co-signed by some of the biggest artists in the game (Queen Latifah, Chance The Rapper, TI, Snoopdogg, JID, Anderson Paak/Free Nationals…to mention a few.

“Girlfried” – Rae’s debut project is produced by her best friend and frequent Collaborator, Jared Rubens. Rae and Jared met through “Vampr” – (Tinder for Music). “Girlfriend” was created out of frustration with the music industry – created with absolutely no budget out of Rae’s bedroom in Torrance – while simultaneously dealing with the complexities of falling in love with a woman.

Now, with a team built around her (Manager – Van Caraviello, Photographer – Riley Lattanza, Producer/Engineer – Jared Rubens) – Rae is preparing for her debut album “FOR THE WORLD” – coming in 2020. We can expect big features and unique sounds that are genre-bending in ways that have never been seen before.

Currently, Rae is starring as a contestant on Netflix’s rap competition series “Rhythm & Flow” – which has brought a whole new audience to her music/art.

We’d love to hear more about your music. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
With my albums, I love to curate every aspect of the work. From the sequence to the artwork, to the content within every song – I care deeply about making GREAT music.

I make music, videos, and would love to act as well. My greatest passion is performing live. I want to tour the world and perform for as many people as possible. When I’m on stage, I feel the most myself.

With my music, I hope people take away a feeling of joy – if I can help anyone with my music, that’s just incredible – because it helps me so much, I know it must help other people too. You can TRULY DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. You just have to commit and put the work in. Nothing is easy and nothing comes quick.

Most of my Artwork for albums, singles is done by one of my best friends Riley Lattanza.

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Please take your time and master your craft. It takes years, it takes real work. Nothing happens overnight. Be exactly who you are, and nothing else. Just be yourself, its cliche but it works.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?

Riley Lattanza is the talented son of my best friend Valerie Lattanza. He has been working with Rae Khalil for a number of years. Nice to see both these young talents getting recognition.
