Today we’d like to introduce you to Xanthia Pink
Hi Xanthia , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Creativity has always been a fire within me that, as I have fed it over the years, helped me gain momentum to move forward! That creativity has taken many shapes, including visual art ( acrylics, collage) making Hair accessories, working as a professional Makeup Artist and model, getting to be a part of the art… and then there were CRYSTALS! I took a deep dive into my Witchy Side around 2012 and as I got into the Spiritual aspects of Healing, I really felt the connection of using crystals in my practice of meditation, ritual and daily magick.
By 2015 I had been carrying crystals with me in my pockets, tucked into my bra and in a special little pouch with pockets for YEARS when one day I decided that I wanted to be able to WEAR the crystals! I sought out videos on Youtube on how to wire wrap and got to practicing! It was not as easy as it looked, but I LOVED being able to wear something I made with special intentions! Over time I got better and started wearing my crystals out and about and at work (I was bartending at the time!) And folks started asking me if I could make them a wrapped Crystal! It then led me to Etsy to start selling my pieces there!
In 2017 I started doing Art walks and some Witchy markets here and there, and really loved having a space around other creatives where people would love to talk with me and hear about my creations! It was that same year, Spring of 2017 that I decided to leave my job and work for myself Full time as a Small Business owner creating Jewelry, Energy healing work, intuitive guidance and leading Spiritual development groups!
When the pandemic hit, and markets in person were no longer possible , and it also changed the in person client sessions and classes. I realized I needed to Pivot and find a way to keep doing what I love, even when the world was upside down. So most of my sessions and classes became virtual and I decided to start doing Virtual Boutiques/Live Sales where I would set up at home as if I were presenting at a market with a curated beautiful set of my hand made jewelry, crystal altar pieces, and gift sets!
During the pandemic was when I really got to explore my love for fragrance oils and intentional ritual blends and created my first recipe for my Fragrance oil! It was in the Spring of 2021 and that scent was ” Fresh Ostara” a clean fresh scent with hints of lemon and sage ( which I just re- released with some warmer notes included!) and it was so exciting!
After that first oil and receiving lots of great feedback I was invigorated to do more! Since then I have created 14 total Ritual Fragrance perfume oils – all with different intentions and scents- that have set my heart ablaze! I’m obsessed with smell goods and adding magical intentions so it has become such a joyful extension of my energy and magick! Each roller ball has crystals in them, too, so the crystal magic is paired with the intention,
In 2023 I ventured out to do pop up markets again and found a beautiful Witchy market: Magick Market in Glendale! I loved the synergy of working with other real Witches and Artisans and especially got along well with the incredible gals who ran the market Juliet A. Kurth and Samantha Rowe! In November of that year they asked me to join the team and of course I said YES!!! I was so eager to build like minded community and expand in my Magick as well as getting it out there to more people who would GET IT!
If you are an Artist of any kind, you know how important it is to find your people who see your gifts and appreciate your energy, so being able to help create a container for others who want this too has been so incredible. The team and I decided to do a monthly market ( it had been bi monthly prior to that) with our now named ” Witches’ Magick Market” (held on the 2nd Saturday of the Month!) and have built so much momentum for our market! I found a love I didn’t even know I had in building community in events like these and I am so grateful to be a part of making it happen! I LOVE to gas up and cheer on other Small Businesses and Artists and get others excited for these monthly gatherings! I’m definitely a ” hype girl”/ Cheerleader!
On top of that, Juliet and I started a business together called ” Sisters of Sassy Magick” creating Witchy Bath & body products! We have so much fun working together and have bonded even more with this endeavor and I’m pretty sure the creation of the products and their sassy names is the best part! Who doesn’t want to be a “Money Slut” or claim ” Cut the Shit!” ( I’m not sure if I can cuss in this interview but we have plenty of that in our product names! Ha!)
It’s been so much fun getting to have my own Xanthia Pink brand and business of Crystal Jewelry, Perfume oils and gifts as well as have a Witchy business ” Sisters of Sassy Magick” with my best friend!
All of this has been a source of Happiness and Joy to look forward to, creating a life that is exciting and beautiful and Magickal and I get to do it with Awesome people and help build a community around it!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been many struggles over the years finding my way and dealing with uncertainty and how business fluctuates. I have tried many other markets and events in the past few years and it takes time to find your people and spaces that are a right fit for what you offer! It can be very deflating working an event that is not a good fit, so you really have to believe in yourself and don’t stop trying to find what works. I am grateful that I have found a handful of incredible markets and events that share my values for Community and magick and want everyone to do well! That is so important!
I do have to say that Working for yourself definitely is NOT for everyone! You have to wear ALL the hats and know how to handle all aspects of your business, with marketing, promotions, sales, customer service, shipping, time management, setting up and presenting at events and actually Creating your products, in my case! I do love being able to say that I feel like a badass that I can do it all! But I do hope to expand in the future to hire others for help with some of these tasks!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in Wire wrapped Crystal Jewelry & talismans as well as Fragrance/ Perfume ritual oils and unique Witchy gift sets! I weave my love into everything I create and amplify it with Reiki energy as well! It’s hard to say what I am MOST proud of, because I make sure that I really do love the items that I make available! It’s gotta VIBE, ya know?!
I am very intentional when I create a collection of jewelry and often create collections for the season or particular markets or events that I will be showcasing at! I love to put my finger on the pulse and tap into what energies are really needed at the time for my potential customers and create from that space! I do this with my custom orders too, so that I create pieces that may be needed to empower, comfort, inspire my guests at that time!
I love sharing about each crystal and its spiritual properties as well! I include an information paper about the crystal when the customer adopts a new piece! There is so much to know, so I enjoy passing that knowledge on! Often they are attracted to the aesthetics, but when they find out about the properties, it’s the ENERGY & intention of the crystal and or oils that really call to them! That’s what calls to me too! It’s all about energy!I absolutely LOVE hearing from my customers that they feel more empowered, confident, and magical wearing my jewelry & oils. And when I am at events I really appreciate when the customers can feel that my art and creations are an extension of me, because they are!
I also curate Tea Cup Altar Gift Sets that are portable Altars set with different intentions! I have so much fun making these and they can include A spell jar, A Fragrance oil, carved and or unique crystals, talismans etc! The deluxe ones also include and exclusive necklace!
I think what sets me apart from others is the energy and intentions as well as the visually appeasing look of my jewelry or the enchanting fragrances I make! And I make sure there is something for everyone and have a wide variety. My own art is even featured on my fragrance oils, so it is all very Me!
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Working for yourself is NOT for the faint of heart! You have to believe in yourself A LOT and don’t give up. Be willing to suck at something New ( because we all do for the most part when we first start, until we learn) but practice is what helps you evolve! Put in the time and energy and commit to yourself.
Be willing to try new things and find ways to pivot when you need to, Closed doors don’t always mean to STOP, but to find another avenue or way to get your work out there! Be KIND and COMPASSIONATE with yourself and give yourself grace! You will have Highs and Lows and everything in between! Know that! And if you can, find and build community with others who are also doing what you are doing! It can be a huge source of support and inspiration for all involved!
