Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Schlich Lead Singer/Guitarist (ASTRALUX)
Hi Will Schlich, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was actually introduced to our dummer, Micahel Lieberman, through a mutual ex-girlfriend– who very smartly noticed that not only are we both talented musicians, but happen to love the same music. We started jamming together sometime in early 2020, but had to put things on hold due to the pandemic. When we started to pick things back up in the Summer of 2021, we met our bassist, Cam Fadl, through a very random, but serendipitous jam session. Tai Ayres, our very talented guitarist, joined up with us early in 2022 and it felt like we’d found this missing piece we’d been looking so hard for instantly, and we haven’t looked back since.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been an incredible journey. We all love playing music more than anything in the world. Just being able to get into a room together and feel that energy for a few hours is all we would ever need. Any and all success that stem from that just make it all the more rewarding.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The goal with Astralux’s music is always to create something daringly distinctive, yet timeless. We find inspiration in music dating back to the 50’s all the way to the present, so we’ve tried to hone in on a unique sound that encompasses that wide range of influences.
How do you define success?
Making songs that we are proud of, and songs that people love to listen to. It all comes back to the music for us. To give people something that inspires them as much as we were inspired by our influences is the ultimate measure of success.
