Check Out Wade` Joubert’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wade` Joubert.

Hi Wade`, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m an Indianapolis-based artist and designer, and my work lives at the intersection of upcycled fashion, furniture design, and sustainability. I’m currently studying at California State University, Northridge, where I’m pursuing a BFA with a focus on furniture design. My practice is rooted in a unique aesthetic and a deep commitment to sustainable creation—something that’s become central to who I am as both an artist and a person.

I founded suede.world in 2022, a creative studio and clothing brand dedicated to transforming pre-owned garments into one-of-a-kind, custom airbrushed pieces. My work combines inspiration from new age media and my own sketchbook. It’s my way of giving new life to existing materials, avoiding waste, and telling stories through fashion. Airbrushing is far from the only thing I do, but I try and cross all my practices. Ill paint on any and every material, I am very interested in different mediums such as clay, wood, and metal. I always try to push my ideas as far as it’ll go.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth, but I have stayed consistent. It is a struggle being a full time student on top of running a business. I really care about the work I do and have never struggled with motivation, but schooling is a big chunk of time. I always am working any chance I get, trying to push each piece to the maximum. I am excited to see my output when I am out of school and can dedicate my full time to creating.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a drawer at the foundation of everything. I have been making art my entire life and have always know this is my route. More recently I have been airbrushing. I started doing that just a couple years ago and have fallen involve with the medium. Wheel throwing pottery and furniture production are a big part of my creative toolbox and I integrate my studio work all the time. When I work in the fashion world, I try to infuse new life into existing materials and avoiding waste. Just last year created a jacket for a sold out upcycling show in New York Fashion Week. Allowing me to present my wearable art to an international audience was incredible and inspiring. I also just recently created paintings for graphics for Travis Scott’s Coachella merch I love to work with other artists and strive for a perfect solution. When opportunities come up I try to always say yes, I always try and keep my hand in every creative jar.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Since coming to California for school, I have felt a new feeling. Connecting with the people out here and just the environment itself has been incredible and fueling.
