Check Out Vincent Sandoval’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent Sandoval.

Hi Vincent, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
How I got started as a pet photographer? Well, how I ended up here was simply out of emotion and what I believe to be the best gift any family member can give themselves – a portrait of their best friend.

In 2013, my husband and I adopted Magnolia (named Chrissy at the shelter). We went in with the intent of adopting a young dog, but Magnolia caught our eye. Eight years old and lifeless we knew she’d never get adopted.

We paid the adoption fee, filled our home with dog everything and planned on giving her years of incredible memories.

Unfortunately, 1 month and 4 days later we lost her to cancer. And while it wasn’t a long life with us, I’m so incredibly thankful we were able to provide her final days in a warm, loving, comfy home and not the shelter.

As a photographer, I was so disappointed that all I had were 2 beautiful photos of her. Sure, I had photos of her from my camera phone, but not many that said THIS is Magnolia – only the 2. It was then I decided that all family members should have beautiful portraits. Portraits that resemble stills from a movie set, portraits that tell a story and portraits that you will be proud to display on the wall or an heirloom album.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As with anyone pursuing their dreams, there have been a plethora of ups and downs. For me, a couple ups have been being able to photograph Giggy for Lisa Vanderpump pets and also Grumpy cat.

Recently moving from Los Angeles to Palm Springs has been challenges because I’m essentially starting over in a new city. Looking forward to photographing all the desert fur babies though.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love approaching photographing in a cinematic way, telling stories frame by frame as if they’re stills from a movie. My portraits highlight authentic emotions never posed or forced.

My photography style celebrates authentic, imperfect, uninterrupted moments of everyday life. I love documenting your pet chasing their favorite ball, laying in their favorite bed, watching you cook dinner.

One of my favorite things to do is spend the day with you. Whether that’s going on a hike or a trip to get a puppuccino there are so many stories to tell.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
To love like a dog loves you.
