Today we’d like to introduce you to Vic & Sasha Barrera.
Hi Vic & Sasha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We are Vic and Sasha Barrera, a husband and wife team who began as wedding photographers now turned brand & web designers. Our journey started in 2018 when we decided to leave the comfort of our full-time jobs to commit ourselves fully to this passion for helping creatives bring their dreams of entrepreneurship to fruition. Our experience with Showit, a drag and drop web design platform, has allowed us to create online homes for some uniquely creative individuals across a diverse range of industries. We work with a wide variety of creatives ranging from: wedding photographers, portrait photographers, wedding planners, venues, interior designers and so much more. We love working alongside other creatives to create the online home of their dreams; one that is sure to attract their ideal client. Authenticity is at the center of all we do, so we welcome all who wish to join in on the adventure.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been filled with plenty of highs and lows. Ultimately, we have learned that sharing these experiences with our audience has allowed us to educate other creatives who are on the fence about pursuing their passions fully. The struggle to stay relevant in a world of nonstop influence paired with the inevitable bouts of imposter syndrome visit all who bet on themselves. In addition to these challenges, we were faced with some scary health issues. Vic had open heart surgery at the age of 30 after having just survived a case of bacterial meningitis which nearly took his life. Overall, we are grateful for our time together and intend to embrace every opportunity of this creative journey.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are proud Showit Design Partners, a title which defines us as trusted and knowledgeable experts of Showit websites. However, in November of 2022, we were awarded Showit Designers of the Year! This award was only made possible through the trust our clients have placed in us with their phenomenal brands. Humbly, we are happy to say that our clientele has been featured in: Disney +, Yahoo News, People, Martha Stewart Weddings, Million Dollar Listing – Los Angeles and Style Me Pretty. Our approach is what sets us apart from the crowd. We align ourselves with brands that we know and love and offer services that we would personally use; those brands which we are proud to be associated with.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Sasha – On Sunday’s my whole family would gather at my grandma’s house for brunch. I didn’t realize it in those moments, but those memories have had a huge impact on who I am today. There’s nothing like spending time with family over a delicious home-cooked meal and spending quality time together.
Vic – When I was younger, our family went camping with a group of my dad’s co-workers. I don’t quite recall which forest, however, I do remember them telling us to watch for bears. Later that evening, there was a “bear” outside the cabin banging on the door – searching for food. Years later, I realized this was probably just a ploy for my parents to get us to quiet down or otherwise behave but I love it because these trips only happened a few times so it was always dear to me. And, for better or worse, that memory will forever be stuck with me because I can imagine how silly my parents must have been in their youth.
