Check Out Veronica Warner’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Warner.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Veronica Warner, an LA-based creative who does a bit of everything. I was one of those kids who was actually weird so instead of being out with people, I spent most of my time sketching, playing video games, writing stories & poetry, dissociating, and listening to oldies. This means I also spent a lot of time thinking about art: how to make it, what it should look like, how it should feel. This carried through from adolescence to adulthood where, after graduating from FIDM with a degree in Fashion Design, I took an internship at a media skills training center to sharpen my post production skills and maybe learn some audio editing like my father (though I am not a nepo baby or else I wouldn’t have to learn). I had done various projects and gigs over the course of this time as well: costume design, modeling, photography, graphic design, acting, and the like. But I had never really considered investing more time into these pursuits until my desk job, still related to the entertainment industry, had drained me completely dry. I quit and then said yes to whatever I could that would allow me to grow as an artist.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
“Smooth” would be a strong choice but I wouldn’t say it’s been horribly arduous. I can’t help but find alternative paths for doing what I want to do (emphasis on “I”). There are clearer, perhaps shorter paths to a brand of success available but there are some things that I simply just do not want to do. And not in a sleazy sense. But types of roles, types of jobs, working with types of people that I am not interested in pursuing even if it could mean progress. Which is not to say that desperate times don’t call for desperate measures in the distant past (like game show audience work) or that I am overwhelmingly proud of every single thing I’ve ever worked on, but I am grateful that the path I chose brought me to a place where I can continue to do what makes sense to me and to smooth out the ride more and more.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a professional everything-er. I know the common saying is to focus on one thing and get really good at it but that was just never going to be possible for me. Why not get really good at a handful of things (especially in this economy)?

Currently, I work foremost as a creative consultant with a psychological edge for storytelling. I graduated from high school at 17 and didn’t want to move south to LA just yet so I turned my hyperfixation on human behavior into a quick degree in Social Sciences at community college. Since, I work with other creatives to round out characters, maximize motivation, and amplify connection. What’s a story worth if no one cares how it ends?

Additionally, I am a producer, photographer and photo editor, graphic designer, stylist, film editor, colorist, audio mixer, voiceover and film actor, screenwriter and script doctor, and singer/lyricist. Unlike some previous experiences, I am in fact overwhelming proud of my ability to take on the exciting challenges that come my way and allow me to do what I do best: be creative.

Lately you can catch my vocal stylings on a variety of Voyage Media narrative podcasts along names like Lily Rabe and Bruce Greenwood or with my band Incredible Change, available on Spotify and other popular music platforms. New music videos are on the way too!

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Always bet on yourself and you’ll always win. But never forget how fun it is to work with other weird kids. And, of course: whatever happens, happens.
