Check Out TYCE’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to TYCE.

TYCE

Hi TYCE, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up in Springfield, MA, in the heart of the 413, hip-hop from the 90s and early 00s wasn’t just music in the background; it was the soundtrack of my life. Artists like Missy Elliott, Aaliyah, and Busta Rhymes weren’t just names on a playlist; they were the giants whose beats and stories helped shape who I am.

After studying fashion design at Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island, I made my move to Houston, TX. It was there I started a production company and artist development school, where I helped develop and introduce acts like Normani.

Now, my time is split between Los Angeles and Texas, where I’m busy creating new things for my brand, Psylence, and designing for various celebrities.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been anything but smooth. In the beginning, it was just me and my art, no big names or industry insiders in my corner. Just a raw belief in what I was creating. Pushing through this matrix-like industry, full of twists and unexpected turns, was a ride filled with lessons at every corner. The struggle of introducing new acts and carving out my own space was real, but so were the breakthroughs. Then, in what felt like a blink, I found myself collaborating with the very icons I once only dreamed of working with. Through all the ups and downs, I’ve been blessed with an incredible circle of people. Their guidance and push towards the light didn’t just help me navigate the chaos—it kept my spirit free and my resolve raw as I turned my dreams into my reality.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My art embodies Musion: a pioneering journey that intertwines the realms of music and fashion into a unique expression of movement. This fusion is what distinguishes me. I immerse myself fully in every facet of my creative pursuits. For me, it’s all about pushing boundaries and bringing new ideas to life. The aspect of my work that fills me with the most pride is the ability to innovate, transforming the intangible into tangible masterpieces alongside some of the most impactful figures globally.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
One of the podcasts I regularly enjoy is PSYFLO. Far from ordinary, PSYFLO delivers a captivating psychedelic adventure alongside intriguing guests. One episode that particularly resonates with me features Zion Clark, who, despite being born without legs, has made his mark as the fastest man in the world and earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. It’s a testament to the unique and motivational content the show brings to its listeners.
