Today we’d like to introduce you to Totiana White

Hi Totiana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello amazing super stars. My name is Totiana White but my stage name is MS. WHITE 1ST LADY OF FRISCO. I started performing at age 5 for family dinners that then turn into a professional career as an Artist, Producer, Teacher, Host and Founder/CEO of my own music entertainment business called BAY AREA HIP HOP & R&B MUSIC SHOWCASE. I provide services like live performance platforms and artist development to emerging artist from all genres of music backgrounds, ages 16 and up. We travel all throughout the Bay Area, also popular cities like Las Vegas and Los Angeles to recruit Artist, perform and create connections. When I’m not in San Francisco, I travel to Los Angeles cities like Glendale, Valencia and Hollywood to promote my business and record new music at Union Recording Studio located in Hollywood. I’ve worked with 70 recording artist and will continue to provide my services to new and existing performing artist.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My life as a performing artist and Founder/CEO has not been easy but it’s been rewarding and I love to do what I was created to do. The main reason I started my music business was due to the lack of managers, record labels and venues booking artist to perform. I found it very hard to live out my passion waiting for others to provide opportunities I may not never get, if I’d haven’t opened up my own entertainment business. I had promoters booked me for shows then the day of took me off for no apparent reason. I’ve had other music artist take me off songs we featured on together, which I’d paid for studio time to record those sessions. So it’s obviously a cut throat industry but on the brighter side, I’ve made a decent amount of money running my own entertainment business, I get to call the shots and make sure myself and Artist are educated about the pros and cons of the music industry. The best part is partnering with other organizations that believe in my services and want to see me expand. My love for music has allowed me to travel places I’ve never would have if I didn’t entertain. My business is continuing to grow through word of mouth and networking. So there’s definitely beauty in the journey. You just have to have faith and believe in yourself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a Artist, Producer, Teacher, Host and Founder/CEO of BAY AREA HIP HOP & R&B MUSIC SHOWCASE, I provide live performance platforms and artist development to emerging artist of all music genres ages 16 and up. I scout, recruit, travel, educate and perform all throughout the western regions of California. Of course, I’m working on getting to the East Coast and Down South but right now I’m focusing on where I’m from and the major cities close to me. I’ve been a professional in the entertainment industry for 15 years now and although I’ve been performing all my life, I didn’t take off until I opened my own music business allowing me to assist other artist in their career development. I’m also big on traveling and networking in Los Angeles, which building connections have put me on the radar. I’m most proud of being one of the rare Afropean’s to build a music business from scratch. Taking every part of my uniqueness and turning it into something everyone can be apart of. Building communities by impacting, inspiring and engaging which is our center core values.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
When I was a little girl being born in raised in San Francisco, I would always watch movies that took place in Los Angeles. Movies like Boyz N The Hood, Clueless, Friday and etc. Even some of the top artist I grew up on were from Los Angeles like Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Marques Houston, Omarion to name a few, were leading in the entertainment business and I felt like I was apart of that, even though I had never met one of them. Just having a sense of connection because of the story background I could relate to. San Francisco had and still do have great artist but we never got the recognition in the main stream so a lot of artist we saw on TV was from Los Angeles and beyond. I love that L.A was the closet city to me and put the West Coast on the map. Love the vibe it offers. But when being in Los Angeles it’s so big with so many cities within it that it’s hard to figure out where to go next or what to do. So many options can sometimes be a downside trying find a needle in a haystack. You pretty much have to know the right people to make it. But overall nothing bad, you just have to network and stand firm on who you are and what you believe.
