Check Out Tiffany Tran’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Tran

Hi Tiffany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My start in the PMU industry was a slow and steady one. What was initially a part time gig as I was staying at home most of the time to raise my new born, turned into a lucrative and fulfilling career that I truly love and enjoy. I’m thankful everyday it that I decided to take the plunge and take my first powder brow class in 2017. My daughter was six months old at the time and I did not want to return to my 9 to 5 at the time, so I was looking for something I could do part time. After taking my first brow training, I knew I needed more time to improve my skills and needed more support so I became an apprentice for a pretty well known artist in Orange County. I spent two year’s apprenticing part time and learned a lot. A lot about the art, business, the industry and many life lessons.

In 2019, with the encouragement of my husband, I decided it was time to brand out on my own. I was drawn to this cute little neighborhood in Bixby Knolls in the city of Long Beach, CA and decided to plant my roots here for my first studio. I have a lot of clients from all over southern CA and I thought Long Beach would be the perfect half way point between OC and LA which is where most of my clients reside, and it has definitely worked out for me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Anyone who is in the PMU industry would know that it is NEVER a smooth road. And actually, nothing in life, especially business never is. As an artist, our product is our work, something so personal to us, so often times the struggle is being proud of your work and not over criticizing yourself. I always strive for the best in the work I produce for my clients and for a time, especially in the beginning, that was hard for me to be happy with my work and not constantly going home and studying the photos and tearing each brow down piece by piece. But like all skills, we get better if we keep going and keep persevering, and now I am definitely confident and more forgiving to myself. Now I just bask in the fact that I get to make women (and men) beautiful and more confident and being able to offer them a solution to their problem areas.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I started my career doing only brows but I knew I wanted to offer my clients a one stop shop experience for all of their permanent make up needs. I feel that a lot of my clients are like me, busy working women and moms who don’t have the time to put on their face everyday. I love that I can offer them brows, eyeliner and lip blush. My aesthetic has always been on the natural side, the “no make up, make up” look. There’s nothing better than having your PMU look almost undetectable.

As I mentioned before, I love being able to offer my clients options for all their PMU needs. And I really love doing each of the services that I provide. For brows, I offer powder brows, nano brows (hair strokes), and combo brows. For eyes, I offer four different styles of eyeliner, my most popular is starburst eyeliner, which gives a gradient effect. And for lips, I offer lip blushing for pale lips and lip neutralization for melanin rich lips.

I would say that my current specialty is nano brows and what I’m known for most is my eyeliner and the sharpness of the wing is what my clients love about my eyeliner.

How do you think about luck?
I think just divine timing as been on my side and I feel extremely lucky for that. I’ve seen a lot of artists get big very quickly and although that would have been awesome, I probably wasn’t ready for it. Between the time I started doing PMU and now, I’ve had three kids almost back to back and being a mom has always been the main priority in my life. Although I have never gone viral or on IG and I don’t even have 10k subscribers, my career right now as an artist with 7 years experience has become extremely lucrative but because of my slow and steady growth, it has allowed me to live a fulfilling and balanced life—for my kids and for myself. I think now that my kids are older and I’ve done a lot of inner work on myself, I’m ready to grow my business even more. I want to one day have a team because I want to inspire and help other women like me who are starting out in the industry.
