Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Parobek.
Hi Thomas, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It has been a super fun journey for me. I started acting when I was five years old and now I am eight, so I’ve been doing it for a while now! My uncle put me in a movie called “Authentics” when I had just turned five. I played the grandson of Linden Ashby (Teen Wolf, Mortal Kombat, Trinkets, etc.). I had never acted before, but Mr. Ashby was really impressed with me so he contacted his agents…and the rest is history! I now have two agents and a manager! Since then, I have been in short films, commercials, feature films, and two tv shows. I really got more into it after I booked “Cobra Kai”. I play Little Johnny Lawrence. It has been exciting because I have gotten to go to several Comic Cons and traveled to some great places. I have such a supportive fan base in the Cobra Kai community and the acting community. Looking forward to 2023 because I have two feature films coming out and a show coming out on a popular streaming service. Can’t wait to share more soon!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I got signed by my agent, Covid happened right after, so that made things a little more challenging. We found ways to be creative though. I filmed a lot of things during the height of Covid, and we all made sure we were really safe. Besides that, I think a struggle for anyone is finding a balance in life. It can’t all be one thing, and in my case, it can’t all be acting. I have to find a balance, and my balance is my family, social life, academics, etc. I go to public school, participate in sports, have friends in my neighborhood, and love to spend time with my family.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m just a kid who loves to act! I’m mostly known for my role as Little Johnny Lawrence in Cobra Kai, but my hope is that in 2023, you’ll be seeing a lot more of me! I have two feature films coming out soon (I’m a lead in both) and you can also catch me in a streaming show releasing in early 2023! I worked with some absolutely amazing actors, and I can’t wait to share more soon. I’m most proud of my ability to balance everything. I think that’s important in life and my family works really hard to make sure I know that.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I think for anyone starting out and wanting to join the world of acting, it’s important to take classes and get as much experience as you can. Maybe look at your local community for opportunities. I did a lot of short films and even did student films early on so I could get that experience. Acting takes a lot of patience, so it’s good that you try it out some before completely jumping into it. Some people think it’s all just glitz and glamour… While it is absolutely so much fun, it also takes a lot of hard work. You have to memorize scripts (sometimes with little notice), be flexible, patient and have to learn to just let things go (if you audition for something and don’t get the part). You’ve got to have that passion for it!
