Today we’d like to introduce you to Third Wheel Comedy. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Third Wheel started as a podcast studio that was opened in a small/closet of a room in early 2019 with Mike Masilotti and Nolan Culver. In early 2021, Third Wheel added a performance venue/space with two additional owners, Dex Carvey and Avry Ross. The podcast studio grew to having three separate locations, 1 in Seattle and two in California. The venue, which was supposed to have shared the space with a podcast studio, soon ran by itself to where it hosts over 21 free open mics weekly. The early success to the venue was having the staple Midnight Madness open mic seven nights a week ran by now co-owner Micheal D’Angelo. With not only focusing on comedy, we soon saw a big draw for music with our other staple show, The Encore Mic, every Sunday with our amazing host, Danny Clawson, now also co-owner. Ultimately the space was created for artists alike to find comfort in performing on a real stage without being charged. We look forward to where Third Wheel will take us next.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If you’re trying to do something great, I don’t believe you can have a smooth road. So for us, we started ventures that had never been done before. Therefore, we ran into rough times, from learning how to get the space functioning to soundproofing to replacing multiple AC units to losing a family member. But strength comes in numbers, and there is not enough space to mention the people who have built and who continue to build Third Wheel. So, where we have gotten through tough times, we have gained more and more support from the community, and for that, we are forever grateful.

We love comedy and offer free themed or non-themed open mics seven nights a week starting at 6 pm and do music every Sunday from 8 PM until midnight. Come by and check us out.
