Check Out The Lucid Fairy’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Lucid Fairy

Hi Lucid, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Well, seems as how I’ve been given free reign to share as much detail as I like, I will take you all the way back to the beginning of my artistic journey, up until now. Each part has been paramount to the next, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without each piece of the puzzle. These experiences have all contributed immensely to shaping the artist I am today, so buckle up, and get ready for this “brief” autobiography of my life.

As a young Brodie, born and raised in Vancouver, my passion for acting ignited when I was twelve after getting to witness an episode of The Twilight Zone being filmed in my neighbourhood. I was so taken by the whole production of it that I felt strongly called to be a part of it too. Soon after, with the support of my parents, I attained representation, and started training, and auditioning for commercials, and film and TV. Eventually this led me to applying for a public high school that specialized in the arts, that was however outside of my regular catchment. Ironically, by the time I had been accepted into the school, just before the school year started, I found myself forcibly enrolling in musical theatre simply because the drama program was already full. Disappointed, they assured me that I would be able to switch into drama just after school started, but in the end, I never ended up switching, as I was in my right place all along!

As I explored my vocal capabilities in musical theatre, and sought further vocal training outside of school, enrolling in private classical voice lessons at the age of fifteen. Soon after, I found inspiration to start extra curricular dancing as well, as a result of watching a DVD recording of Celine Dion’s “A New Day” concert in Vegas. At the age of seventeen, I was then immersed in every dance style of dance available at the studio I enrolled in. Transitioning from minimal training to over twenty-five hours a week in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, contemporary, musical theatre, and hip-hop. I was fortunate to also be accepted to perform with the Visions Dance Company, which allowed me to tour schools in British Columbia with an educational dance program for children through Artists in Residence.

After about six months, Visions was invited to represent Canada at the prestigious Dance Excellence convention in Los Angeles. While there, I auditioned for The Young Americans, a historic touring company of young singers and dancers founded in the 1960s. I was thrilled to be one of ten accepted out of eighty applicants that week, and at still just seventeen, I would finish up my last year of high school and pack my bags for California to train with this amazing organization.

Over the next seventeen months, I performed around California and worked with at-risk youth, completing a Performance Diploma with the YA’s, which led me to then participating in their international music outreach tours overseas.

My first tour was two and a half months in the UK (England, Scotland and Ireland), which was then followed by a three month tour to Japan shortly after. This Japan tour took place just a few months after the devastating tsunami and earthquake in 2011. Being a part of the rehabilitation process and witnessing the resilience of the Japanese people during this time impacted me very deeply. On these tours, we used elements of the creative arts to open people up to expressing themselves on new levels, that the majority of them had never had the opportunity to experience before. They were incredibly impactful experiences, and we were able to reach thousands of participants generally over the span of two to three months.

My travels continued with the Young Americans through Germany and several other surrounding countries, where I also had the opportunity to offer our workshops within the prison system there. My last tour with the YA’s was to the northern most region of Japan, where we were not able to go because of the severe deviation during my first tour. This time, we were invited back by the Japanese government and were placed directly into schools of the regions that had faced the most severe devastation. Once again, this was an incredibly transformational experience for me as well to say the least.

After five wonderful years with The Young Americans, I completed four International Music Outreach Tours, performed in five annual Christmas shows and collaborated with some renowned Broadway stars. Following my career with the YAs, I took a short break from touring to become a certified Yoga instructor, and shortly after that was invited to join a cast at Royal Caribbean Cruises as a dancer. Working with the top cruise line for entertainment was such an incredible experience, but after touring and performing abroad for about seven years since graduating high school, I was eager to go back to focusing on my career in film and tv back home.

From there, I returned to Vancouver to do just that, and also ended up exploring my entrepreneurial spirit by starting a division of my own travel business. I had always loved traveling so much, having been so blessed to have done so much of it already, and truly believed it greatly enriched my understanding of humanity. This venture went on for me for three years, where I traveled non stop and helped others create their trips of a lifetime. Unfortunately though, the distributer I was working with went bankrupt due to COVID-19, which forced me to shut my business down as well. Such was a blessing in disguise though, because I was then forced to reflect back on my life, which led me to rediscovering my artistry once again.

During COVID-19 I learned a lot about the importance of meaningful relationships and personal growth. I experienced friendship at a whole new level as I developed the bond with my newly formed, core group of friends. We found great joy in spending time together on frequent getaways, where we would create mini raves in mansions all around BC, which would nurture our self discovery and expression.

One weekend, on one of these getaways to a small town called Roberts Creek, we decided to explore a psychedelic journey together. It was then that I got lost in the mirror playing with some make-up products from a natural cosmetics company that I had represented as a side hustle for several years. It was one of the first times I had ever experimented with make-up in this way, and found myself evolving into this mystical creature, later affectionately dubbed “The Acid Fairy”. Equipped with wings, a feather boa, and a thong speedo, I stepped into a persona that was both liberating and empowering, embracing my newly discovered feminine expression.

That day, I laughed more than I ever had before, as we paraded through this small town, drawing smiles and curiosity from locals, who seemed to have never seen the likes of a group like ours before, all dressed up, parading in public. A photographer happened upon us, and captured the joy of our spontaneous celebration, and I felt a profound sense of connection and freedom in expressing myself in such an unconventional way. This experience marked the beginning of my journey as this mystical creature.

As time went on, I continued to bring this character to life during other gatherings with my core group of friends, as they nurtured a safe and joyous space for self-expression. She became a running joke and a mascot of our friendship, allowing me to explore my feminine side and embrace a playful spirit without judgment.

During the pandemic, as restrictions began to lift, Vancouver Pride was still sort of happening, but during a unique time when official pride events weren’t being hosted by the Vancouver Pride Society. I had been working as a brand ambassador and promo model for years, and was now hired to manage the Durex brand activation at Vancouver Pride.
Initially, the plan was to distribute product as part of the street team, but things quickly changed when we learned that the shipment was not going to arrive on time. It seemed like the activation might be canceled, but I saw an opportunity to make something special out of it.

I pitched the idea of turning it into a mobile dance party, bringing music and energy to the streets to create brand awareness through celebration. With my experience from my past tours with The Young Americans, I felt confident that this would work, and I also suggested introducing this character I’d been developing. This was an opportunity for me to make my first public appearance as this feminine form, although at that point, I didn’t exactly mention her name as it was then…

On the first day of Pride, I made my debut, dressed in heels and a fantastical costume, dancing through the streets of Vancouver with a team of Brand Ambassadors, getting people to dance with us and handing out candy. The energy was electrifying as I moved from place to place, creating a space where people could celebrate Pride in a year where it was very difficult to do so, as dancing in bars and clubs still restricted. At night, after my shift, I found myself still in possession of the equipment I used during the day, so I decided to take the music out to the primary plaza on the gay street downtown Vancouver, Jim Deva Plaza, and just see what would happen… People flocked from waiting in line-ups to the sound of the music. Everyone had such a blast, and I felt so fulfilled creating a space where people could express themselves and celebrate Pride together, that I decided to do it all again the next night too!

On the Sunday, the last day of pride, when the parade would normally be happening, we actually arranged a parade of our own for Durex that took place along the waterfront. I had my team of BAs working with my again, and a handful of volunteers, and we created such a fun vibe for anyone who crossed our path. I had a headset microphone that easily had me within earshot of a thousand people as we reminded people that pride was still happening! Our final night at the plaza was the biggest and best yet, with easily over one hundred people in attendance as the word spread from the previous nights before. I had now upgraded to dancing for everyone on a folding table, which I danced on very skillfully in platform heels.

Just as I was about to shut down, I was approached by a producer who expressed interest in collaborating with me as an artist. When he asked what I called myself, I humorously responded, “Well, I’m the Acid Fairy, but like, don’t tell your mother…”.

That experience made me realize that this character had the potential to be more than just a fun act. I wanted to create something that carried a message of freedom, expression, and joy. I had to come up with a better name to brand myself with. I wanted a name that encapsulated the brightness and clarity I felt during those moments of creative expression. “Lucid” means bright, free-flowing, luminous and easy to understand, which resonated with the uplifting message I aimed to convey. On top of its association with lucid dreaming, which I had had some experience with already as well, as a vivid dreamer. It also playfully hints at my psychedelic experiences, as the word “acid” is still contained within it as well.

The Lucid Fairy—a transformation that carried so much more meaning than I had ever originally expected or intended.

Now, The Lucid Fairy is not just a character but a movement—one rooted in self-expression, creativity, and community. Whether I’m hosting a high-vibration house party, performing on stage or in the streets, or collaborating with other artists, my goal is always to inspire others and create spaces where people feel free to express themselves authentically.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Struggle is one of the most important elements to achieving success, as we grow the most through discomfort.
Contrast helps us to clarify our desires, granting us the perspective and resilience to persevere. Therefore, I can confidently say, that I would not have gotten to where I am today without experiencing struggles along the way.

From my teens to 20’s, I often felt like an outcast. My ambition and eccentric personality seemed to confuse and overwhelm my peers so I would create versions of myself to fit in. But that lead to further disconnecting from my true identity, lacking courage to express myself, and explore my sexuality.

During my last relationship of almost four years, I was hyper fixated on my external world. I put so much energy into pleasing other people that I never had any energy left for myself.
I used to be convinced that I was put on this earth to purely be in service to others, but even though my intention were good, I used this as an aversion to building a deeper connection with myself. Everything seemed fine to me though at the time, but I was numb to my emotions, and complacent in mediocrity.

A few months before I was to turning thirty, I realized that I had a real opportunity to take advantage of this incredible milestone in my life. As I smoothly transitioned out of living with my partner at the time, I started making an effort to redefine myself. Pushing myself to new limits through practices like fasting and meditation, while also actively seeking spiritual guidance through ceremonies and mentorship.

It was around this time where I started to become heavily involved with an organization called “The Human Garage”, which at the time was beginning the process of transitioning from a practitioners model of treating the fascia, to free education on how to heal ones self through fascial awareness. I became very good friends with the founder of this movement Garry Lineham, and received an incredible amount of mentorship from him. I worked very closely along side him, often as a test subject to demonstrating the profound benefits of this practice of fascial maneuvers that we were developing.

This became the most transformational timeframe in my life. I found myself evolving more rapidly within six months of conscious devotion to myself than I had ever had in the previous four years combined. This period ultimately led me to expressing myself in ways I never imagined possible, embracing my farthest reaching feminine form known as “Lucid”.

Equipped with my newfound sense of self, I was ready to take on the world in a whole new way. The next phase came with its own set of hurdles, but I always found that I could now look within myself to overcome whatever came my way.

I was never part of any kind of drag family, so I didn’t have any mentors showing me the ropes or teaching me make-up and styling. All I knew as to just be consist, and even though I might cringe at old footage of Lucid starting out, I am very proud of how far I am been able to get in developing my artistry all on my own.

I made a great effort to network in the drag scene locally, but I found out very quickly just how competitive and seemly exclusive it was to appear in the major gay clubs around town. I even found myself a victim of cancel culture when I did finally land my first big gig, simply due to some drama between two other queens that I had nothing to do with, but simply failed to pick a side. All of this ultimately lead me to hosting my own events consistently at a private mansion for four years now, to really refine my artistry, as well as get the footage and experience to once again move up on my own.

Over all I can say that committing to my own personal development equipped my with the tools I needed to overcome these struggles and the resilience to pave my own path to success.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I come from a diverse background of expertise from performance, to business, spirituality and wellness. Other than what I have already told you about my entrepreneurial and performance background, I also have a deep connection and practice of spirituality. I was raised with alternative forms of healing, and conscious thought. I was nurtured though a Montessori education system until 9th grade, where I was taught to be an individual, free thinker and a leader. I trained to become a certified yoga instructor so I could best know how to care for myself as a performance athlete. This then let me to becoming a founding member of “The Human Garage”, the world leaders in fascia research. All of this has culminated into the artist I am today, and Lucid is a form of my highest self that harnesses the innate ability to express empowering and motivational qualities reaching a much broader span than Brodie was ever able to before our divinely expressed feminine form.

As Lucid, I am best known for creating content that is high-energy, positive, motivational, affirmational, and uplifting. I started out by expressing this through poetry, but then adapted that skill to modify the lyrics of well-known EDM tracks to convey a message. I paired this with my background as a classically trained ballet dancer and my training as an actor, allowing me to move with power and grace while evoking emotion.

I am now at a point in my career where I am working on an album of my very own, which I am anticipating being ready to launch early next year. My songs fall under the electro-pop genre and highlight key messages for personal growth. These songs I feel are truly one of my greatest accomplishments thus far, and I am incredibly excited to release them to the world!

Regarding my live performances, I’ve created something I like to call “Performance Activations.” This is an immersive experience that engages audiences through a dynamic blend of vocal and dance elements. The crowd is captivated by powerful visuals, movement, and auditory displays, culminating in personalized interactions and connections. These have been proven to evoke deep emotions, inspiring a sense of collective energy and personal empowerment, leaving a profound and lasting impact on the audience.

To my knowledge, there is no one else out there doing what I am doing as a consciousness-driven drag vocalist. I am well-rounded in both vocal and dance abilities, and my technique allows expression to emanate from my very being. I am clear on my platform and core values; they govern my every decision, and I anticipate building a strong sense of trust with my audience as a result. For example, I am devoted to promoting healthy living, so I primarily use the most natural products for makeup and cosmetics. This commitment has led me to partner with Missmack, Canada’s number one clean cosmetics company.

I want use my voice and platform for a purpose: to elevate and inspire humanity to embrace their truest, most authentic selves. I demonstrate the importance of balancing our masculine and feminine energies, as we are all equally made up of both. I am so passionate about this subject that I wrote a TED Talk in the last year about how gender nonconformity is for everyone, and I am looking forward to delivering this message from stage one day.

It is my mission to push people to question their belief systems and encourage a shift in paradigm to a happier and more abundant state of being, where the laws of the universe work more in our favor.

The world is shifting rapidly, and the opportunity is greater now, more than ever to shift along with it, creating our own vision of what our New Earth will be like.
It only takes a moment to awaken someone’s light, and I have made it my life purpose to be a warrior of the light for this reason.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
One key component of my life that I haven’t shared in this interview thus far is my current relationship. The final piece of my puzzle came from the incredible love and support I receive from my devoted partner, Jerkone. We met in the spring of 2023 and started building our relationship slowly. He had never been in a relationship before and was even unsure about dating a man, so I kept my involvement with Lucid under wraps for the first three months so as to not overwhelm him.

When Vancouver Pride came around in August 2023, I invited him watch me perform for the first time. He attended the pride parade alone to see me, and I was so impressed with how he embraced the whole experience, especially since he was still closeted to his friends and family. That night, he supported me during my third annual “Rogue Fairy Stage” at Jim Deva Plaza, and I began to see him in a whole new light.

A couple of weeks later, I invited him to a boutique bush rave with my friends. It was his first ever musical and camping experience, and witnessing him blossom into his uniquely individual self-expression was so beautiful. With some assistance from our friend “Molly”, he was able to express his love for me for the first time.

On the drive home, we decided to enter a relationship that felt unique to us. I offered him the chance to explore his curiosity in a non-monogamous way, while I was also interested in polyamory. However, we have since been so fulfilled by each other that we’ve had little time for other connections. The underlying freedom, grounded in strong communication, continues to enhanced the love we share to this day.

Very soon after we started dating, he came out to his family and friends and moved in with me. Together, we have become a powerful force with an unbreakable bond. I wouldn’t be able to do all I do as Lucid now without him by my side, ensuring I have everything I need to perform at my best, while capturing all of it on camera!

Aside from my relationship, I would like to add that I am so excited for all the new content I’m getting ready to launch! I’ve got a mass of footage from my busiest summer to date, including numerous pride celebrations, Shambhala, and Burning Man. Of course, watch out for my debut album releasing, and for the relaunching of my TikTok and Youtube channels! Additionally, I’ve been involved in creating an incredible event in and around West Hollywood, called “Hive Vibe,” which happen monthly. These are conscious queer parties that incorporate the fundamentals of spirituality within the queer community, all in a sober party-like setting with music and dancing. Check out @highvibeparty on Instagram for more details!

And finally I will leave you with this:
We are all powerful creators of our own reality, and we have come here to sift through contrast and evolve. Sometimes people act as mirrors to our triggers to offer us an opportunity for growth. Be conscious of the recurring patterns in our lives, as the universe will keep presenting us the the same puzzle until we resolve it. And always remember, if you don’t like what you always got, don’t think what you always thought.

Many blessing and much love, always!
