Today we’d like to introduce you to Tenisha Dyanne Younger.
Hi Tenisha Dyanne , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am Tenisha Dyanne Younger and this story depicts how I became the queen of books. My epitome of reading and writing began at the age of 3. My Grandmother Ora and her father Alfred instilled in me the gift of literacy. She was a dedicated and loyal medical professional, who devoted her life to serving others. I am my mother Daphne’s first born. All of my siblings names began with the letter C. The list are as follows: Courtney, Corey, Camille, Caleb, Chantel, Carmen and Candace. I call them my 7 C’s. My bonus siblings are the following: Brit, Kim, Cedric, Saundra, Lance and Eddie Johnson . Cedric was like my very first brother. He is my first cousin. He wrote and mailed his first letter to me. I was always fascinated with music and the arts. My cousins Ann, Caroline, Etoile, Lashon and Jeanette performed all types of music in school and church. They were classically trained on the piano. My Aunt Wanda knew how to dance and Aunt Valerie sang. My Uncle George has a gospel group called The Noflins. Wanda and Valerie both braided my hair growing up. I am intrigued by the law and politics. At 7 years old, I helped my cousin Hillman get elected during his very first campaign. My cousin Jean is a wonderful pianist and she reads music. I used to be apart of assisting Hillman at the state capital. I witnessed history with voting for the future. My intricate care for others derived from helping my Aunt Alice on her kidney machine. I first began publishing work in elementary school. My competitive nature broadened various horizons. Daphne took me to sit in her college courses and I did travel avidly. I rode an elephant at 5 in Disneyland. My Uncle Keith played a few instruments and was a DJ. During my high school years, a close friend Wallace Strickland and I recorded music. Growing up, I always had a keen sense of adventure. My mind was always thinking about being outside of the box. I wrote poetry, songs, articles, plays, speeches, greeting cards, essays, just about everything. Close family and friends provided me with knowledge and books to succeed. My Aunt Mary who is a salon owner had me to model in hair shows. I have lived a thousand lives and still continue to embark upon new chapters. An inspiration to me is how giving up is never an option. The first person I ever believed in is myself. Confidence is a powerful tool and it is motivational. I represented myself and won a few a major lawsuits. I have an English Literature degree and I utilize my words as weapons of knowledge. My cousin Ronnie C became a minister. He always taught me to be positive and to help shape the world. He would emphasize if you do good, then good would follow. I have had a few rare and epic experiences. I lived on the property of a stunning theme park. What got me here today is loyalty, hard work, perseverance, avid travels, sacrifice and dedication to my many crafts. I do have a sense of humorist tactics. Laughter is good for the soul. College was only a school of life for me. I always told my daycare instructor that my intellectual abilities far exceeded the teachers on staff. The daycare teachers agreed that they acquired knowledge from a 5 year old. My learning environment was being around several adults of wisdom. The three l’s are look, listen and learn. I knew what I wanted to be and definitely what I was not going to be. My family friend Vickie Bradley took me under her wing as a tutor. Vickie taught me so much about operating a business during my formative years. She is also extremely caring and strong. Under her guidance, I became a GED assistant. I also became a worldwide educational supervisor/director of afterschool programs. Some of my tasks including hiring/training staff, conducting workshops, implementation of curriculum studies and creating arts enrichment programs. I always asked the students what was their purpose in life. We all must discover purpose, then we can discover ourselves. One of my wishes is that me and my grandmother Ora had penned a cookbook together. I love sharing stories with my Aunt Alma. Dr. Betty always taught me that health is wealth. There is always a past, present and future tense. I am watching my nieces and nephews grow up. I remember when little T-rex was born on my birthday in August. Most of them are divine beings with straight A’s. In particular, Addyson desires to be a flight attendant. I encouraged her to see it, be it and achieve it. This is all apart of my legacy. You are not rich until you have something that money cannot buy. That something is whatever you wish for it to be. I remember homeschooling my cousin Terrance. He become a model student. I am so proud of what Terrance has turned out to be. He owns a trucking rig and sees the world. During our tutoring sessions, we discussed creating a perfume line. Dr. Maggie would profusely laugh about that. My sense of humor partially came from Sterling Pete Younger. He always had smart things to say to Uncle Eli and cousin Cora. He is the one and only true loco. My cousin Denise took me to my first NBA Bulls game. We had floor seats until she broke up with her boyfriend!! We were close in range, almost could touch the players! These were fun times, waving at them, smiling and cheering everyone on to victory. I love the rapper DMX and his nurturing of reading books. I compose my own original quotes. You have to say goodbye to say hello. My story is to be continued.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No road in life is ever easy. Complicated roads lead to endless destinations. It is like one of my favorite Drake songs by Mike Zombie, Started From The Bottom Now We A Here. My college years were difficult for a few reasons. I kept the same English Literature major; but I took a few long breaks in between. I began to work full-time several jobs. This impacted my studies in a major way. One job in particular was at the YMCA with my Professor Coach Epps. He always wanted me to become an attorney; because I loved to argue and win all rounds. Studying Linguistics with Dr. Ginn enhanced my skill levels as well. I highly advocate for justice by signing petitions and helping to change laws. The first grant I ever wrote was one to receive and orchestrate a presidential vision care program. I have written several grants since that first time. Coach Epps was an Olympic trainer and oil Landman. I helped to review and research his oil well documentation in Texas. I remember winning my final car payment in college. It came from a casino. What a winner and how random is that? Then at a later time, this particular vehicle got stolen. I had my brand new books inside of the car. I did have a few scholarships and financial aid; but a special guide helped me. Her name is Ms. Thelma Taylor. Thelma became a devoted mentor and loyal friend. She worked at my university and we discussed various options. Despite some times of adversity, I still managed to graduate.Later on I helped my friend Tonita open a cup cake shop. It closed eventually;but the products were one of a kind scrumptious. One time on a music tour, I witnessed a live hostage situation. There was nothing glamorous regarding those turn of events. An artist was late to an afterparty; the promoter imposed a contractual breach of contract. Then the aftermath ignited on a Sunday. I forewarned this artist that we were running late at the concert arena. They didn’t take heed and the rest was history. People must remember that fans can make or break your career. You must not take these privileges for granted. I used to select Cancer patients to come from the audience and meet artists on tours. I knew that people sacrifice to purchase expensive tickets to savor the moments. Some people have dreams of meeting their favorite celebs. I survived two unforgettable, massive fires. The first fire was in Chicago and my most recent one was the California Wildfires of 2025. My Cousin Doris in Chicago always taught me that experience is the best teacher. Another struggle along the way is theft period. Whether it’s material things, work embodiment of others and any type of theft is unacceptable. I am apart of the US Copyright Alliance, thanks to Courtney Lang. I acquired knowledge from Attorney Goldie Gabriel and Music Executive Jennifer Drake. This modern day AI vs. Human is up for congress. Two of my collaborators, composer Patrick Guitarboy Hayes and artist Blanco Brown just remade an AI song. From my perspective, a human will conquer and win. Any musical creator who is authentic must acquire knowledge derived from music law. When any musical note is played, the song composing process begins. The initial process does not begin with written words. So many people get this intricate legal factor misconstrued. Good and bad karma does exist. A real culprit rarely reacts towards remorse. They think about it upon getting caught. Money never was the root of all evil. It is the greed. My close friends Shirley Mapp and Derrel always conveyed that point with me. J Cole said it best, some of them do not want to be saved. Troy Taylor, a close friend always stated this entertainment industry is not always fair. He points out that good music finds a home. I need to start a 1-800- STOP the ripping offs coalition. I also need to develop a lying app. It can be a new day lie detector test on a mobile phone. It will detect fabrications miles away. Prison is not sufficient enough in some cases. I am proud of the younger brother of Usher. His name is J. Lack and he has managed to survive being the brother of a celebrity. J. Lack is humble and kind. He gave me an unforgettable birthday gift. He paid for me to visit their hometown one summer. Their mother is a sweet individual also. Over the years, I acquired vast legal knowledge from my attorney, Kendall Minter. I will always value his wisdom, honesty and respect. He was a positive, caring mentor, who shared tons of constructive perspectives. My advice is to anyone being introduced to the entertainment industry is to do the following: to keep your wallets wide open and legs closed. I was told that saying from a panel speaker years ago. I can only eloquently embark upon my previous statement. The epitome of failures can lead to epic success. Struggles can only make one stronger. I remember helping a young artist and composer Candice Boyd. She had the best of both worlds as a writer and singer. Her question to me was how could I look forward to being 21, if I have already done so many things in advance? I gave a pair of designer shoes off of my feet. I told her that the best is yet to come. Her voice was a rare jewel and her personality is huge. There is unlimited power in words. I am even proud of my friend Jazze’s health journey. His weight loss is a catalyst of perseverance. I am proud of Calvin in Texas for starting his new ventures outside of music. Seeing their courage provides hope for others. My beloved Jayb helps me to press on. He reinvents himself in numerous ways. I was a former educator and shaping the lives of youth is imperative. My sister Brit is a principal with a high graduation rate at her school. This displays true leadership and management. Lisa B is my extended family; but she is also an enriching educator. I remember riding by some former students who were literally running to safety one cold night in Chicago from gangs chasing them. Despite the risks, I told them to hop in. It was a miracle that night for sure to escape danger. Lucius nominated me for this article. His mom Donna was a military great and former educator. We discuss tactics on how to deal with stress, grief management and support. His sister Summer is still giving back in many ways. Being an avid traveler helps me to focus on the how frozen moments can be appreciated. I am fine with being perfectly imperfect. Being flawless is definitely no fun!! There are some very essential individuals who have touched my life throughout this journey: Mike Garcia, Oscar, Leticia, Claribel, Jeffrey, Ernesto, Shrawak, Silver, Maribel, Euros,Roman, Bre, Bree, Louie, Mr. Tattoo, Coco, Janae, Jordan, Roman, Jacob, Anna, Tim, Mimi, #21, Julius, Tyler,Grant, Shercuria Curry, Aunt Louise, Pam, Harold, Jessica, Payton, Landon, Ms. Janet, Erica, Steph, Shonna, Jeremy & Josh Forrest, Gary, Mr. Carl, Chris and Corey UPS in Atl and my Byhalia family. Ms. Blackmore an educator and family friend was always optimistic. Charles and Gail Smith introduced me to the world of puppetry. I loved Bo & Lo! It could have been a PBS special. Belinda Crudup became a business owner and worked in law enforcement. She taught alot of self love along the way. I volunteered at a Blind & Deaf School with Dr. & Ms. Parrish. I deeply felt if those students couldn’t clear see or hear, they still completed normal tasks. Those were some of my best times, simply because I understood them. Most of my friends became educators like Rosalyn and Shannon. I took many risks and high roads. I love intriguing things, fashion, jewelry, literature, sports, big cities and bright lights. I saw my friend Rico become a professor. My Aunt Mary who sustained well over 100 years was a beaming light. She babysat Richard Pryor during her era. She always conveyed sometimes it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. I love the stamina of Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson. I remember when my friend Steve Markland offered me a position on Music Row in Nashville. We always had a nice friendship and musical bond. This message is promoting the ALL LIVES MATTER CLUB; NOT ONLY BLACK LIVES MATTER. A positive message must be conveyed. I look at the color of someone’s heart and not their skin. Let’s make America Great Again!

I then met Bria Murphy during a song writing session. She is Eddie Murphy’s daughter and represents the beauty of kindness. She has her father’s eyes. I collaborated with Manny, Yolanda Halley and Rodney who became movie producers. Their children were always fun to spend time with and mentor. My latest rising stars are Christopher Kingfish Ingram. He is extremely talented and wise. I am apart of the Hard Road album along with Patrick Guitarboy Hayes. Our songs are the following: SSS, Hard to Love, Clearly and Standing on Business. His manager Ric is doing a good job with the label. We did a new song with their epic artist Dylan. Dylan is multi talented. Tylan, Tiffany and MAMBACITA are all phenomenal singers. They are like family and Goldie can sing almost better than Toni Braxton. I remember helping Slim aka Marvin of 112 how to properly pronounce his words in a recording session. Slim knows that I was very hard on him. Dolby, the cousin of Slim was always pulling studio pranks. Then, when his Mama Rose got hit by a vehicle, I nursed her back to health. My Australian mates, Mason, Baby J, Brooke, Simonne, Glen are all talented individuals. I was honored to design a custom Fender guitar for the artist Blanco Brown.
