Check Out Stefania Koszti’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefania Koszti.

Hi Stefania, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Stefania Koszti, I’m originally from Hungary and I’m a makeup artist based in Los Angeles.
I moved to the states when I graduated from high school.
I didn’t speak english at the time very well, and It was like a shooting star moment when I found out, that I won the green card, because I always wanted to be living in Hollywood.
If you believe in yourself, the skies the limit and to me, that’s one of the secret recipe to success.
My mom wasn’t very supportive at first. Imagine I just turned 18 and I said I’m going to another continent to live. Not sure how many parents would have let that slight knowing if I need her she couldn’t come to rescue me .
I didn’t understand that at the time but now as a mom I do.
She said if you want to go to Los Angeles you go ahead, and I think that was a huge motivation for me at the time and still is believe it or not. She was certain I’ll return in a year it’s been over 22 years.
I’m grateful for my mom tho we are very close she’s very happy for me the biggest influence in my life.
Shortly after I took english as a second language classes for a year non stop .
Long story short I went to Film school, and Makeup School, and once I graduated, started working in film and TV. I joined Local 706 Union .
I recently won best makeup award with Special Effects, and I’m so proud of that because when I entered the make up school I couldn’t afford the whole course so I self taught myself. My teacher at the time said just keep practicing you’ll get there he made me buy a book that helps you step by step and I timed myself because on a movie set you have to do quality with limited time. He said if you want to get an award Stefania you got to learn it all.
I created many characters over the years from beauty to high fashion to fantasy, creatures, trauma make ups I also briefly worked at the wax museum and I never stopped learning.
I’m always practicing when I’m not working keep educating myself on different products. It’s good to keep up.
Help you to become the best that you can be. I don’t like to be comfortable if I’m not nervous about a make up there is no challenge.
I love challenging myself how far I can go .
Make up is such a power it’s like an illusion you tricking the eyes. It’s amazing what you can do simply with make up.
I love that one day I work on a Western the next on a sci-fi the day after I’m doing head shots sessions. It’s never boring. I love the adrenaline.
I think I create the best makeup under pressure not many people can say that.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I had many obstacles and challenges since arrived to LA just alone how my journey started here , but I think it’s a great thing it drives me as an artist and as a person to do better. It gives me that extra boost to create better make up, and also In my everyday life not just as an artist.
If nothing would challenge me in life that would be pretty boring I think we can all agree on that.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a 706 Local beauty/special effects make up artist based in Los Angeles.
I work in tv and film .
I recently got best makeup award up award for special effects in the Shape of US movie that entered a horror competition.

I love details I feel like that’s definitely one of my signatures. The little details that brings the make up to life and bring the realism to it.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I would definitely call myself a risk taker . Just the journey coming to the states as a teenager not knowing the language , entering make up school and they said if you don’t pass Iyou have to start over (because my English was still pretty bad,) , starting literally from a newborn phase when I came to the states , and work my way up was a challenge but that shaped me and made me the person/artist I am today., if anything I’m grateful for the rocky road, because it’s started to pay off.
