Hi Shante, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
So a little bit about myself my name is Shante Threatt, I am the owner and creator of scentedtreatts. I’m a wife and mother, I also still currently work my full time job in healthcare. I started Scented Treatts back in 2015. A few years ago, I received an Amazon gift card for Christmas. I had no idea what Amazon was nor what to buy. While browsing, I came across a candle-making kit and thought “let me try this out”. I made some candles and decided to take them to work to test out the product. “They loved them”. At that moment I knew I needed to create my own candle line.
I have always had a love for fragrance and creating scents by mixing them together. I’ve always known that I wanted to be my own boss, I just wasn’t sure on how to go about it. I know now that what I’m doing is right for me. Candle-making kind of fell in my lap and I haven’t stopped since.
I’m now putting more focus into creating more items for self-care and adding to my brand. We have new things coming soon can’t wait to share what’s to come…
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My current challenge is balancing all things happening in my life. Running Scented Treatts has been a roller-coaster in itself, but worth the ride. Being a mother, wife and still working a full-time job has its own set of challenges. Luckily, I’m learning to manage it all with the help of my family. My children are getting older and they are able to see what goes into building the brand. Just in case they choose to take the entrepreneur route, they are receiving inside information.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Running my business has taught me to have patience. As bad as I want things to move faster on this journey I’ve had to learn to trust the process.
