Check Out Scotty Apex’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scotty Apex

Hi Scotty , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started making music in Shelbyville, Indiana. The town I’m from just south of Indianapolis. I remember saving up some birthday money and I was so excited to finally purchase my first microphone. It was a RODE mic bundle, and pressing record on that first idea sparked so much inspiration in my mind. I fell in love with music, what it made me feel both as a listener and as the creator. Once I graduated college, I took a leap of faith and moved to Los Angeles in January of 2020. Which was an interesting time as that was pretty much right when covid began, so maneuvering through life as the world was in such a strange place was quite the experience, but I’d like to think I have made the most of it. Im inspired by the settings I am in, the people I find alignment with here, and I’m extremely proud of the art that has been made since the move.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing has ever been a smooth road, but I’ve found joy in the process and taken each moment as a learning experience towards where I am trying to reach. I’ve dealt with many forms of grief through this journey, and I would say battling those human challenges we all inevitably face has been the biggest struggle for me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a painter over many canvases, whether that be music, film, clothing, I specialize in conceptualizing ideas inside of a range of mediums that are a unique reflection of the colors I would like to see the world as.

I would say what makes me stand out is the world that I try to create around the music. You see it within the narrative written into my visuals, the way I speak is authentic and vulnerable. I want to be personable with the listener and make them feel there is a helping hand in whatever they are going through.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk taking is the best way to grow. Whether you take a risk and win, or take a risk and lose, you will that you have learned something of value.
