Check Out Ruhi aka Rohini Hak’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruhi aka Rohini Hak.

Hi Ruhi aka Rohini, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
All life stories get molded during our childhood. Sometimes one wonders if we did not learn from our early experiences – would we be what we are today. Where I am today for me is not measurable by any achievements or titles the world and its ways bestow on me. But by the peace that I have & a sense of satisfaction with who I am. A sense of calm in knowing it’s where I am meant to be… well at least for now…

I feel immense gratitude for having supportive & loving parents & an adorable sister that left doors open to the world for me to live doing whatever gave my being a sense of happiness, purpose and contentment. As someone who in school got severely bullied, I ran to music and family to hide from the harsherness of the outside world. My mother always gave me stories of courage and values that had my head running in so many imaginary planes and realms that everything always seemed beautifully magical – Come What May!

When a sense of how to turn it around came. I wanted to let other kids know ways out from being tormented by the same fears. This became a life purpose and inspired me to building workshops on depicting tools for empowering self and healing trauma.

Today, I am defined by terms like Engineer, composer, writer, singer, director, producer and the founder of a nonprofit called HOPE B~LIT. A grass root nonprofit that goes on the ground in various parts of the world and works on empowering women and children across the globe. Every human being that has ever crossed my path has been a teacher, mentor and guide. With every turn of a page, I discover who else I can aspire to be in these limited worldly definitions of things we do.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Every day brings opportunities and obstacles. It’s what you see and focus on in the day and seize that makes your life worthwhile. People and situations that challenged me the most have been my blessings. I am thankful for the learning that comes with it all as when things are too easy …the profound truth of being truly happy may go fleeting by unnoticed… Falling, failing and not knowing in which direction the next step should be has led to the most fearless and faith-based decisions I have made in my life. As when one doesn’t have options left, one takes the road less traveled.

So the pain and disappointments help and embracing them has helped me grow as a person…teaching me empathy, patience and courage to take the next leap.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Clarity to see and imagine all things that can be created from what is present in every field is a learning from my work with children. Also, not being entirely practical, logical and mature also has helped me grow as a human being by keeping my heart open. When the mind is like a child’s and doesn’t over analyze or overthink that ease of mind and simplicity can lead to the best creativity. At work as an engineer, I can creatively troubleshoot thinking of things beyond the norm. As a writer, musician and composer, one can touch realms with an open mind, as a director watching visuals to be created and as a founder of a nonprofit think of creative ways to accomplish projects globally via enabling, empowering and implementing workshops that heal! It’s always a roller coaster to these imaginary planes and dimensions which are hindered by reality and its strife sometimes. The creative path leading to living one’s true life and trying to find purpose is long & hard but joyous as well.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see the world changing with every new year.

The world in its chaos has taught us all to live each day to the fullest. We are experiencing first hand on how connected we all are as one global family on this planet. We must serve the needs of people and communities as they arise and look at long-term resolves to empower and enable women and children impacted by disease or man-made and natural disasters.

We see fresh perspectives to existing things and simultaneous innovations and new ideas radically changing globally in all aspects of our lives- professional engineering work, film making, or nonprofit arena with ground efforts…
